Job Description

We are searching for a full-time Benefits and Payroll Specialist  to work in the Human Resources Department. The person in this position would be responsible for managing benefits and payroll for the organization. This requires thoughtful support to employees with regular maintenance of the HRIS system (Paylocity) and coordination between various school leaders, department and vendors.

Schedule: 40 hours per week; typically Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm; hours worked are on-site, flexibility with start and end times may be possible with majority of work being performed in the work day when faculty and staff are present

This role requires someone who is detail-oriented, service-focused and resourceful. Every day, the person in this position would:

  • Enter, review and pull data using various modules of the Paylocity HRIS/payroll system and other company records/files. This means employees benefits and pay are processed accurately, and real time data is available to inform decision making across all levels (from the employees and their families, to supervisors, the leadership team, and with external partners too)

  •  Provide timely support and information to employees about pay and benefits in conversation, email exchanges and other documented communication throughout their employment cycle. You would have a team of people working with you on this: supervisors, benefits brokers and outside vendors to support and help with regular updates and questions

  • Stay up to date on regulations, policy developments and workforce trends that impact pay and benefit practices for the school. Information would be gathered through partner organizations, your own research and other available sources; would then be used to propose updates and changes for the organization.

Qualifications

Associates degree in HR or related field, but experience and/or other training/certification may be substituted for the education.

Prior experience of at least 2 years in a Human Resources and or Benefits related position

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with great attention to detail and ability to execute multiple tasks with changing priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to handle highly confidential information with respect and aid in its protection

  • Solutions oriented with the ability to quickly identify problems and propose solutions

  • Strong communication skills and willingness to work with and provide excellent customer service to others

  • Good, working knowledge of HR/payroll systems (preferably Paylocity), Microsoft Office, Google Suites and other related systems with the desire to learn more and teach others

Additional Information

Target annual salary range for this role is $58,000-65,000; a comprehensive benefits package is available.
