Job Description
We are seeking candidates to fill a temporary Programs Assistant role as our current Programs Assistant will be taking a leave of absence. This role will be set to start in January 2024, working through the end of June 2024, with a possibility to extend or to remain on in a different role based on performance and business needs.
Schedule: Typically Monday through Friday, with shifts falling between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm with adjustments or additional time as required, including potential evening, weekend, or early morning work if necessary. This role may also support off-site daytime, evening, and overnight field trips as assigned, as well as staff childcare as assigned.
NNM's Programs Department offers many options to meet the needs of students and families beyond the school day. From before and after school care, to specialized activities, private music lessons and summer camp - there's something for everyone.
The Programs Assistant provides support to the Programs Director and Coordinator in the facilitation of NNM's Programs that occur beyond the typical school day. This position provides support in the planning, preparation, and operations of the school’s before and after school care and activities, summer programming, music lessons and community programs. Job responsibilities can include, but are not limited to:
- Assist with organization and preparation of the afterschool rooms and other spaces used on a daily and weekly basis
- Assist with planning, ordering, and distributing daily snack for students in afterschool
- Assist students with transitions in and out of after school, this includes other school activities, snack, carline and more; ensuring safety at all times and following established school protocols for child pick up and drop off
- Assist in processing orders for programs, including snacks, supplies and other items
- Assist with staffing plans and substitutions for lessons, programs or other activities
- Assist in various programs and departments to provide support to staff or children as needed and requested, this may include responsibilities for recess or support with assigned classrooms or groups
- Update afterschool drop in attendance records as requested by supervisor
- Effectively use registration and database systems to generate documents and reports to facilitate programs' daily, weekly or per-session operations
- Assist with the set up of program registration and the creation of preview documents and other materials related to afterschool and/or summer camp registration
- Compile and distribute electronic mailings to parents and/or staff based on instruction and communication/marketing plans for the department
- Acquire professional training in the field by attending conferences, training workshops and other related activities
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required, assigned, or requested
Qualifications
- High School or equivalent diploma, some college coursework preferred
- Previous experience working with children required
- Previous office work within the education or non-profit field is a plus
- Strong proficiency with databases and other computer programs for electronic communication, word processing, analysis and data presentation - including Google Drive/Documents, Gmail
- Prior experience with maintaining, updating and building reports in a database
- Demonstrated ability to provide high level of support and assistance with the ability to juggle multiple tasks with changing priorities
- Attention to detail combined with great communication and organization skills
- Ability to work well with others including internal and external customers
Additional Information
Full-time, temporary employment to start in mid-January and end in late June/early July 2024, with a possibility to extend based on business needs and performance.
- Pay Information: Eligible for a non-exempt salary, starting at $22 per hour.
