Job Description

We are seeking qualified candidates for the full-time position of Learning Support Program Coordinator starting November 2022 -

The Coordinator is responsible for the oversight, organization and planning related to academic support services at the school, as well as providing learning support directly to a small group of students. The Coordinator will work closely with teachers, coaches, Associate Head of School and will manage the teacher members and vendor relationships of the student learning support team.

Schedule: 40 hours per week during the school year (generally runs from mid-August to mid-June); hours typically Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm with adjustments or additional time as needed

Responsibilities include:

  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn about Montessori practices, in efforts to align student supports with their Montessori classroom experiences where applicable 

  • Coordinate and track learning support services for students with learning differences throughout the school, ensuring appropriate information is shared with all relevant parties, including families, teachers and coaches

  • Manage the processes for screening, benchmarking, academic progress monitoring, and related services for identified students

  • Collect and maintain records related to multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) interventions, including data required for IEP and 504 plan submission process

  • Ensure learning support teachers and vendors properly document student learning support and accommodation plans 

  • Provide learning support services direct to identified students as needed

  • Coordinate and communicate standardized testing accommodations for student with learning differences; provide accommodations during testing periods as needed

  • Track and follow up on communication with parents, teachers and learning support team regarding student needs and progress

  • Work with faculty, including Associate Head of School,  academic coaches, learning specialists, teachers, student support team, and families to support implementation of academic accommodations for students

  • Support the process to identify the need and provider referrals for outside evaluations and supports

  • Participate in learning support team meetings and student support meetings as needed and scheduled

  • Assist with school-wide initiatives that address learning differences and related topics, including parent and teacher education events

  • Plan and facilitate  the testing required for students who receive Empower Illinois scholarships, per the program’s requirements; file and distribute any related reports or information as needed.

  • Take training related to the work, as suggested/approved by the Associate Head of School, including but not limited to: Orton Gillingham, Wilson, Dibels, Universal screeners, Child Study, Safety Care

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in special education or equivalent work experience in related field, Masters degree preferred

  • Previous teaching experience and 2+ year experience in providing learning support to students across various developmental stages; LBS1 certification preferred

  • Demonstrated understanding of the MTSS process

  • Clear and precise understanding of Special Education law

  • Clear understanding of IEPs 504s and how to be in compliance

  • Training or experience in providing executive functioning skills

  • Experience with academic screening measures and benchmarking tools such as aimsweb and NWEA MAP testing preferred, training can be provided

  • Well versed in learning and social-emotional differences

  • Proficient in using school and student based systems for learning, testing  and record keeping 

  • Excellent organizational & communication skills, sound judgment and emotional maturity

  • Demonstrated ability to work well with teams

  • High degree of flexibility and willingness to adapt to the evolving needs of the student population

  • Highly organized and familiar with Google Drive

Additional Information

Full-time employment to start in November 2022. Salary range of $60,000 to $80,000 commensurate with experience and background, and a comprehensive benefits package available.
