Job Description

The Department of History, Philosophy and Religious Studies in the School of Sciences and Humanities at Nazarbayev University in Astana, Kazakhstan invites applications for an instructor position in the History of Kazakhstan. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to a team-taught History of Kazakhstan survey for first-year students and to teach other courses within their field of specialization. The standard teaching load for instructors is 4/4 with teaching assistant support for large classes. In some cases, a reduction in teaching load may be possible.

Qualifications

The successful candidates must have a Master’s Degree in History or Eurasian Studies or related area in hand, and preference will be given to individuals with demonstrable knowledge of the region. The position is available from August 2025. The contract will be for a period of three years (August 2025 – June 2028) on a renewable basis.
