Job Description

  • assistance in conducting laboratory classes in support of the educational and research mission of the School;
  • maintenance of laboratory equipment in good working condition;
  • development of plans for laboratory classes in accordance with the instructions of faculty members and supervisors, as well as available equipment and reagents;
  • close cooperation with faculty members in the preparation of laboratory classes;
  • control of receipt, inspection, testing and inventory of purchased equipment and materials;
  • planning and control of all activities related to installation, maintenance and ongoing testing of laboratory equipment;
  • participation in the formation of the School budget application for the relevant  financial year and short-term period;
  • ensuring proper maintenance of laboratory equipment in accordance with the needs of laboratory users, international rules of operation and safety;
  • conducting control tests for laboratory experiments and classes;
  • instructing students the safe and proper use of equipment;
  • analysis of the needs for laboratory equipment, consumables and reagents, as well as processing applications for their purchase;
  • maintaining proper inventory records;
  • preparation of expedition equipment for students' field work;
  • inventory of fire fighting equipment and first aid kits in laboratories;
  • mplementation of the School and University security plan, including record keeping;
  • assistance in activities related to the course and other responsibilities related to the educational and scientific mission of the School, on behalf of line managers or the Dean of the School.
  • temporary performs the duties (replaces) of another Laboratory Assistant during his/her temporary absence (up to one month).
  • timely and properly executes the tasks of the line manager and the University`s management;
  • observes the requirements of the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Employer`s internal documents;
  • is responsible for exercising the labor and performance discipline;
  • is responsible for ensuring the integrity of official documents, and prevention of the disclosure or leakage of confidential and business information,
  • as well as information of restricted access in accordance with the legislation, Charter and internal documents of the Employer;
  • in case of dismissal, is responsible for timely transfer of all paper documentation, digital information, inventory to another employee as instructed by the line manager (to be certified by the act of acceptance-transfer).

Qualifications

Education

Higher-professional, bachelor or equivalent degree

Preferred majors:

scientific and technical disciplines

Work experience

Minimum 1 (one) year.

With master's degree in the relevant field, no work experience is required
