Job Description

Duties and responsibilities

The Laboratory Coordinator performs the following duties and responsibilities:
1) assistance to the Dean, line manager and Senior Laboratory Coordinator of the School in organizing the work and distributing the workload of Laboratory assistants;
2) assistance in providing the necessary working conditions for equipment and laboratories, monitoring of the laboratories and equipment condition within the supervised area to ensure the academic activities of the School;
3) monitoring of inventory and updating of lists of available materials in the laboratories of the supervised direction on a regular basis;
4) conducting an analysis of the needs for laboratory equipment, materials and reagents based on available cost data within the supervised area to ensure the academic activities of the School;
5) consolidation of information on the necessary means of ensuring safety in the laboratories of the School together with the Department of Environmental Safety and Labor Protection within the supervised direction;
6) coordination of issues of ensuring access to laboratories of the supervised direction together with interested structural divisions of the University;         

7) conducting briefings and familiarization with the safety and labor protection rules in the laboratory for Laboratory Assistants and Teaching Assistants assigned to work in the laboratory of the supervised direction, within the framework of his/her responsibilities and powers;
8) verification and assistance to the Laboratory Assistant in the development of standard operating procedures (hereinafter - SOP) for equipment and assistance to the Department of Environmental Safety and Labor Protection in the development of safety and health instructions for potentially hazardous types of work;
9) ensuring the availability of SOP, safety and health instructions for potentially hazardous types of work according to the instructions of the Department of Environmental Safety and Labor Protection in the laboratories of the supervised direction;
10) preparation of a budget application for the relevant reporting period within the supervised direction to ensure the academic activities of the School;
11) timely write-off of consumables in accordance with the operational budget plan within the supervised direction to ensure the academic activities of the School;
12) organization of a procurement plan for laboratories (goods, works and services) within the supervised direction to ensure the academic activities of the School;
13) participation with the initiator in the development and endorsement of technical specifications for the procurement according to the manufacturer's instructions, confirming the technical characteristics within the supervised direction to ensure the academic activities of the School;
14) participation in the processes of acceptance, verification, testing of purchased equipment and consumables for the laboratory as a member of the Acceptance Committee within the supervised direction to ensure the academic activities of the School.

Qualifications

Higher professional education, preferably in higher educational institutions with English language of instruction;
Priority areas of specialties:
- physics

Work experience

With a Bachelor's degree / Specialist - at least three years;
At least 1 year with a master's degree in the relevant field.

Knowledge

- Knowledge of the processes of planning and procurement of laboratory equipment and consumables;
- knowledge of safety rules on working with laboratory equipment;
