Job Description

Teaching assistant performs the following duties and responsibilities:
1) attends at least 90% of the lectures (or equivalent) of the relevant course;
2) supports school research projects with the written consent of the School management;
3) assists in preparing educational materials and tasks for students;
4) teaching and assistance to students individually or in small groups, to master the tasks and strengthen the teaching concept presented by the professors;
5) assists in evaluating homework and tests, calculating and recording results, by using responses or electronic devices for evaluation;
6) contributes to the development and implementation of the School's curriculum;
7) assists the faculty in preparing educational materials, conducting discussions and training sessions that complement the lectures of the Department;
8) prepares supplies and equipment for laboratory classes;
9) conducts reception hours and supports students' research projects;
10) reads no more than 10% of the total number of lectures, provided that they are under the direct supervision of a member of the faculty and the Dean of the School provides written consent;
11) performs other duties assigned by the Dean and School's Department chair;
12) conducts correspondence within the framework of their functional responsibilities; 
13) participates in the processes of identification, assessment, management, and monitoring of risks within the supervised area;
14) temporarily performs the duties (replaces) of the other Teaching assistant during his/her   temporary absence (up to one month);
15) timely and properly executes the tasks of the line manager and the University`s management;
16) observes the requirements of the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Employer`s internal documents;
17) is responsible for exercising the labor and performance discipline;
18) is responsible for ensuring the integrity of official documents, and prevention of the disclosure or leakage of confidential and business information, as well as information of restricted access by the legislation, Charter, and internal documents of the Employer;   
19) in case of dismissal, is responsible for the timely transfer of all paper documentation, digital information, inventory to another employee as instructed by the line manager (to be certified by the act of acceptance-transfer). 
 

Qualifications

Education 

Higher-professional, preferable from the higher education institutions with the English language of instruction; 
For Teaching Assistants in graduate programs, a master's degree in the relevant field of knowledge is a prerequisite.

- Computer science

Work experience    

One year minimum. No working experience with a master`s degree in the relevant area

Knowledge    

- Knowledge of the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of education;
- knowledge in the relevant field: Engineering and technical/Chemical-technological/Engineering-construction/Computer science;
- knowledge of MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint programs;
- fluency in English, Kazakh, and Russian languages.

Skills     

- Skills in preparing and conducting presentations;
