Company Description

Nazarbayev University (NU) seeks a creative and experienced Graphic Instructional Designer to support academic staff in designing and developing learning experiences and material.

The Graphic Instructional Designer position is within Innovative Learning Hub (ILH), a sub-division of the Office of the Provost. The IE team provides institutional support to foster excellence in learning and teaching, academic quality, institutional research and analytics, and innovative learning.

Job Description

Role and Responsibilities

  • Facilitate instructional design support to faculty through consultation with individuals and course design teams;
  • Develop innovative learning materials for face-to-face, online, and blended delivery modes.
  • Encourage and implement course transformations and innovative learning and teaching approaches;
  • Assist Schools in identifying professional development needs in learning and teaching, design and deliver relevant PD programmes for faculty and staff;
  • Train and support staff and faculty in media content creation and instructional design;
  • Manage the Innovative Learning Studio and its audio/video resources.

Qualifications

Education: Higher-professional, preferably from higher education institutions with English as the language of instruction; 

Preferred academic degree: Master’s degree in education, instructional design or other closely related disciplines.

Teaching experience in higher education and professional experience in the media industry.

At least 3 years of experience in managing a learning and teaching function in an internationally reputable higher education institution.

Professional competence and personal qualities

  • Experience in the use of audio-visual software and hardware;
  • Experience in the use of state-of-the-art Learning Management Systems and Virtual Learning Environments;
  • Excellence in the delivery of academic presentations, talks, workshops and online educational activities;
  • Ability to develop policies and guidelines appropriate to the position;
  • Knowledge of MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Qualtrics and other specialist software (such as Adobe Suit, Final Cut Pro, Avid Pro Tools), appropriate to the position;
  • A team player with a friendly can-do attitude.
