We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Research Manager to contribute to the establishment of a new education research centre that will be housed within the Graduate School of Education at Nazarbayev University. The vision of CARCEIT (Central Asian Research Centre for Education Innovation and Transformation) is to become the leading education research centre in Central Asia, producing high-quality research to inform education policy and practice while building education research networks and communities in Central Asia.

The Senior Research Manager is the senior member of administrative staff in the Centre, with responsibility for managing all administrative matters in collaboration with the CARCEIT Director and other relevant staff in GSE and NU. He/she is responsible for

• monitoring all research projects conducted in the Centre;
• co-ordinating grant application and awarding processes;
• contributing to and managing reporting processes;
• day-to-day supervision of other staff;
• assisting with the development of Centre policies and procedures;
• representing the Centre to external parties;
• other duties as required.

Education

Master’s degree in a relevant field.

Work experience

- At least 3 years of professional work experience in education, research management or a closely related field;

- Experience of managing projects and people.

Professional competencies

- Fluency in Kazakh, Russian and English;

- Ability to manage work and people effectively;

- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a member of an intercultural team;

- Ability to take initiative and liaise with a wide range of people;

- Ability to represent the Centre professionally to diverse audiences and widen networks;

- Commitment and integrity.
