Job Description

Teaching Assistants support of Biology teaching and curricular activities in the Department of Biology at the School of Sciences and Humanities of Nazarbayev University.

1) Assist in the preparation of educational materials and tasks for students.

2) Prepare for laboratory classes incl. consumables and equipment.

3) Assist students to master the tasks and strengthen learning outcomes in problem-solving classes.

4) Assist in evaluating homework and assessments.

5) Participate in proctoring exams.

6) Contribute to the development and implementation of the School's curriculum.

7) Perform other duties assigned by the Dean and School's Department Chair for example, assistance in School-approved students’ research competitions.

8) Conduct correspondence within the framework of their responsibilities.

9) Participate in the processes of identification, assessment, management, and monitoring of risks within the supervised area.

Qualifications

1.      An earned undergraduate degree in Biology or a closely related area of science or engineering is a must while a Master degree is considered a plus.

2.      Strong ability to solve general biology problems is required. Prior experience with scientific instrumentation, computer programming and conducting research is a plus. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in general biology are required.

3.      Commitment, flexibility, punctuality, collaboration, honesty, integrity, cultural sensitivity are required.

4.      Excellent English language communication skills are required because NU is an English-speaking working environment and teaching is conducted in English. Knowledge of Russian and Kazakh languages is a plus.

5.      Fluency in MS Office is required. Familiarity with Moodle
