The School of Mining and Geosciences at Nazarbayev University invites applications for a faculty position in Geology.

Nazarbayev University was launched in 2010 as the premier national and regional research university, partnering with some of the most internationally recognized names in Higher Education. The School of Mining and Geosciences was established in 2016 and aims to educate tomorrow’s earth science leaders for Kazakhstan, the region and the world. The NU campus is located in Nur-Sultan, the capital of Kazakhstan, in the heart of the new and ultra-modern Left-Bank region of the city. Incoming faculty will enjoy a cosmopolitan living experience, interwoven with traditional cultural influences in food and entertainment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for (1) teaching geochemistry, mineralogy, field geology, and geophysics at the undergraduate and graduate levels, (2) contributing to the establishment of the teaching collections of petrology of the School of Mining and Geosciences, (3) establishing world-class research projects in partnership with the local mineral industry, and (4) mentoring junior faculty. Workload is distributed between teaching, research and service activities. Excellent communication skills and English fluency are required.

The successful candidate must have a PhD degree in Geological Sciences with a proven research track record and teaching experience commensurate with appointment rank.

The appointment is a 3-year renewable contract subject to annual performance reviews. An attractive remuneration package for international faculty members includes:
