Nazarbayev University was launched in 2010 as a premier national and regional university, partnering with some of the most internationally recognized names in higher education. The School of Science and Humanities (SSH) partner is the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Nazarbayev University invites applications for a position of Instructor in Sociology to begin in August 2021. We are seeking candidates who have a background in any area of sociology. A focus on the Eurasian region is desirable but not essential. The candidate should be able to teach introductory courses and methods courses such as Introduction to Sociology and Social Science Research Methods. The ability to develop new courses that complement the department’s preexisting course offerings is also desirable.  

Essential Qualifications

• MA or PhD in Sociology from an accredited and recognized international university;
• Teaching experience at university level;
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills;
• Commitment to maintaining a collegial and inclusive work environment.

Responsibilities include a 4/4 teaching load as well as departmental and School service. This is a three-year appointment with the possibility of renewal. The position comes with a competitive salary and other benefits.
