Job Description

Teaching Assistant is imposed with the following functions:
1) attends at least 90% of the lectures (or equivalent) of the relevant course;
2) supports school research projects with the written consent of the School management;
3) provides assistance in preparing educational materials and tasks for students;
4) teaching and assistance to students individually or in small groups, in order to master the tasks and strengthen the teaching concept presented by the professors;
5) assists in evaluating homework and tests, calculating and recording results, by using responses or electronic devices for evaluation;
6) contributes to the development and implementation of the School's curriculum;
7) assists the faculty in preparing educational materials, conducting discussions and training sessions that complement the lectures of the Department;
8) prepares supplies and equipment for laboratory classes;
9) conducts reception hours and supporting students' research projects;
10) reads no more than 10% of the total number of lectures, provided that they are under the direct supervision of a member of the faculty and the Dean of the School provides written consent;
11) performs other duties assigned by the Dean and School's Department chair; 
12) conducts correspondence within the framework of their functional responsibilities; 
13) participation in the processes of identification, assessment, management, and monitoring of risks within the supervised area;
14) timely and high-quality execution of other instructions of the School management, as well as the University management within their official duties and powers. 

In order to fulfill above-mentioned functions, the Teaching Assistant shall execute the following duties:
1)    properly and within the established time frame to fulfill the instructions of the School and University management;
2)    observe the requirements of the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the University`s internal regulations;
3)    perform job duties in good faith; 
4)    strictly respect labor and performance discipline; 
5)    observe provision of the University`s mandatory internal documents;
6)    in case of dismissal or transfer to another position –pass all paper and digital information, to another person, specified by the Dean and Department Chair, under act of acceptance-transfer, and submit the inventory assets to the accountable officers of the University.
 

Qualifications

Education

Higher-professional, preferable from the higher education institutions with English language of instruction; 
 For Teaching Assistants in graduate programs, a master's degree in the relevant field of knowledge is a prerequisite.
Graduates of Master's programs and current PhD. students of the University are preferable 

Qualifications

Priority specializations:

Work experience

The required work experience is determined in accordance with the standard qualification requirements for administrative positions of the Autonomous organization of education “Nazarbayev University”
