Senior Manager of Hardware Office (servers, data storage arrays, data center infrastructure)

Job Description

1)       participating in the development of new strategies and procedures of the Division to increase efficiency, improve work processes and user satisfaction, within Hardware Office of the Division (servers, IT communications, information support: servers, data storage arrays, data center infrastructure, information support) (hereinafter – the Office);

2)       work with suppliers of goods/services within the Office;

3)       work on supporting the performance of contractual obligations, monitoring the timing of performance, within his/her competence;

4)       document management in the Office;

5)       participation in procedures for the acceptance of goods/services;

6)       preparation of technical specifications/tender documentation for equipment purchased by the University, within his/her competence;

7)       providing support and resolving incidents related to the work of the University's data centers and its organizations, as well as providing methodological support for relevant issues;

8)       maintaining the working condition of technical means, as well as carrying out verification and preventive maintenance of equipment for the purpose of timely detection and elimination of malfunctions;

9)                industry commencing new equipment, carrying out its technical adjustment;

10)           ensuring the timely backup of information systems and data of the University;

11)           making suggestions for possible upgrades and changes within the Office;

12)  assisting the Head and Chief Information Officer in coordinating and monitoring the execution of contracts and budget items within their competence;

13)  performing the duties of Office employees assigned by the Head during their temporary absence (business trip, social leave, regular work leave, temporary disability);

14)  participating in the processes of identification, assessment, management, monitoring of risks in the procurement system within the supervised direction;

15)           timely and proper fulfillment of other orders of the Head and the University management within the framework of his/her responsibilities and powers

Qualifications

Higher-professional, preferable from the higher education institutions with English language of instruction;

Priority specializations:

- computer science or related fields;

- information technology management;

engineering.

Required work experience is defined in accordance with standard qualifications for administrative positions at the autonomous organization of education “Nazarbayev University”. 

Experience to support server equipment at least 3 years.

- Knowledge of the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of informatization and education;

- knowledge of international standards in the field of information technology (hereinafter-IT);

- knowledge ensuring the smooth operation of data centers, server equipment, and local area network;

Knowledge in the following:

- arrangement and operating principles of server equipment;

- hardware and software for server equipment and storage networks;

- controls, measuring tools and devices used in trials, configuring, and testing server equipment;

- technical and operational characteristics, design features, goals and modes of operation of server equipment, rules for its technical operation;

- understanding the infrastructure for building data centers;

- change and project management skills;

- skills in preparing and conducting presentations;

- analytical/problem-solving abilities;

- availability of certificates in the field of information technology relevant to the performance of these functions (preferably);

- professional knowledge of MSOffice programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint);

- fluent English, Kazakh and Russian languages.
