Job Description

Laboratory Coordinator is imposed with the following functions:

1)       assistance to the Dean, the Head and Senior Laboratory Coordinator of the School in organizing the work and distributing the workload of the laboratory assistants;

2)       providing the necessary working conditions for equipment and laboratories, monitoring the condition of laboratories and equipment;

3)       monitoring of inventory and updating of lists of available materials in laboratories on a regular basis;

4)       analysis of needs in laboratory equipment, materials and reagents based on available cost data;

5)       consolidation of information about the necessary safety equipment in the laboratories of the School in the framework of the supervised direction, together with the Health and Safety Department;

6)       coordination of issues related to providing access to laboratories together with the interested structural divisions of the University;

7)       conducting training sessions on the use of equipment for persons assigned to work in the laboratory;

8)       conducting health and safety instructions in the laboratory for persons assigned to work in the laboratory, within the framework of his/her official duties and powers;

9)       monitoring compliance with health and safety rules in laboratories in accordance with the internal documents of the University;

10)  checking and assisting the Laboratory Assistants in developing standard operating procedures (SOP) for equipment and health and safety instructions for potentially hazardous work;

11)  ensuring the availability of SOP, health and safety instructions for potentially hazardous types of work and other safety-related documents in the laboratories of the supervised direction;

12)  preparation of a budget requests for the corresponding reporting period within the supervised direction;

13)  timely write-off of consumables in accordance with the operational budget plan;

14)  organizing a procurement plan for laboratories (goods, works, and services);

15)  verification of technical specifications for the procurement in accordance with the manual or other documents confirming the technical characteristics;

16)  participation in acceptance, verification, testing of the purchased equipment and consumables for the laboratory as a member of the acceptance committee;

17)  participation in the development of technical specifications and preparation of documents for concluding contracts and supplementary agreements;

18)  providing reports, information and data at the request of the structural divisions and organizations of the University, in agreement with the School's management, within the competence;

19)   ensuring the safety of documents within the supervised direction;

20)  maintaining correspondence within the scope of his/her functional responsibilities;

21)  participation in identification, evaluation, management and monitoring of risks within the framework of supervised direction;

22)  timely and proper fulfillment of other orders of the Dean and the Head of School and the University management within the framework of his/her responsibilities and powers.

6. In order to perform the above functions, Laboratory Coordinator is obliged to:

1)       timely and proper execution of tasks of the Dean, the Head of the division and the University`s management;

2)       observe the requirements of the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the University`s internal regulations;

3)       perform job duties in good faith;

4)       strictly respect labor and performance discipline;

5)       observe provision of the University`s mandatory internal documents;

6)       in case of dismissal or transfer to another position –pass all paper and digital information, to another person, specified by the Head, under act of acceptance-transfer, and submit the inventory assets to the accountable officers of the University.

 

Qualifications

Education

Higher-professional, preferable from the higher education institutions with English language of instruction

Priority specializations:

-      Engineering and Technical;

-      Chemistry and Technologies;

-      Engineering and Construction;

-      Computer Science

Work experience

-      Required work experience is defined in accordance with standard qualifications for administrative positions at the autonomous organization of education “Nazarbayev University”
