Nazarbayev University was launched in 2010 as a premier national and regional university, partnering with some of the most internationally recognized names in higher education. The Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Nazarbayev University invites applications for a position of Instructor in Anthropology to begin in August 2021. We are seeking candidates who have a background in archaeology and experience with topics such as religion, ritual, exchange, complex societies, heritage, and/or community outreach. As well, a focus on the Eurasian region (broadly defined) is desirable but not essential. The candidate should be able to teach introductory courses, such as World Prehistory, and upper-level UG courses in Anthropology including Laboratory Methods in Archaeology and social science research methods more broadly. The ability to develop new courses that complement the department’s preexisting course offerings is also desirable.  

Responsibilities include a 4/4 teaching load and departmental and School service. This is a three-year appointment with the possibility of renewal. The position comes with a competitive salary and other benefits.
