Main functional duties of the Department:

  • 1) Development of strategy, business plans, as well as control and management of development, development and implementation of technological solutions to meet the needs of the University's users;
  • 2) Ensuring effective performance management and achievement of results in one or more areas of information technology (IT)
  • 3) Ensuring reliability, productivity, security and continuity of IT systems and supported business processes
  • 4) Analysis of modifications or improvements to determine the impact on existing production systems.

 

 

Job Description

1) support of Artificial Intelligence (hereinafter – AI) infrastructure at the University;
2) installing, testing, configuring and monitoring HPC clusters/servers and software;
3) verifying full performance of system components including network and storage;
4) configuring workload management and scheduling systems;
5) diagnosing and operative solution of issues with software and hardware of clusters/servers;
6) providing consulting and methodological assistance on the issues within the competencies;
7) responsible for support in a few areas of development, such as networks, operating systems, databases or applications;
8) development of toolsets, work instructions and processes in the area of AI within the competency;
9) assisting the Head and the Chief Information Officer in coordinating and monitoring the implementation of agreements and budget lines within the competence;
10) keeping yourself up-to-date on cutting-edge technologies, actively share knowledge and best-practices in the area of AI;
11) for the period of temporary absence, during a business trip, social leave, regular work leave, temporary incapacity of the employee, the performance of the employee's duties is assigned to a person determined by the supervising head;
12) participation in identification, evaluation, management and monitoring of risks within the framework of supervised direction;
13) timely and proper fulfillment of other orders of the Head and the Chief Information Officer within the framework of his/her responsibilities and powers.

Qualifications

Higher-professional, preferable from the higher education

institutions with English language of instruction.
Priority specializations:
- computer sciences;
- computer engineering;
- information systems;
- engineering.

The required work experience is determined in accordance with the standard qualification requirements for administrative positions of the autonomous organization of
education “Nazarbayev University”;
Mandatory experience as a System Administrator, or a
similar role;
Preferable experience with artificial intelligence.

Professional competencies: - good general knowledge of Linux system administration and server hardware;
- proficient with programming languages (e.g Python, C/C++) or systems analysis;
- knowledge in network infrastructure and security practices;
- understanding basic High Performing Computing (hereinafter - HPC) concepts and techniques (e.g. OpenMP, MPI, CUDA);
- knowledge of filesystems and storage deployments;
- knowledge in high computing capacity and storage capacity;
- preparation and presentation skills;
- knowledge of the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan
in the field of information and education;
- knowledge of international Information Technology (hereinafter - IT) standards;
- availability of certificates in IT relevant to the
performance of these functions (desirable);
- professional possession of MS Office programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
