Nazarbayev University is an English-language research university, created in 2010 with the support of other leading university partners around the world. The Department of Biology of the School of Sciences and Humanities at Nazarbayev University seeks a recent Ph.D. degree holder for the position of Postdoctoral Scholar starting from January 2021. Applicants’ research interests should align with topics in one of the three research thrusts of the Department:
•    biophotonics applied in cell biology, cancer biology, and environmental systems
•    molecular basis of human diseases including cancer, infectious diseases, autoimmunity and neurological diseases
•    biotechnology, biosensors, nanoparticle delivery, and bioinformatics

Applicants must be recent Ph.D. degree holders (excluding Ph.D. degrees awarded by Nazarbayev University) and should have at least two first-author original research article publications in Q1 or Q2 SCImago-ranked journals.

Conditions of employment: Nazarbayev University offers a competitive compensation, free housing, no-cost medical insurance and a relocation allowance. The term of the initial appointment is two years, with a possible renewal for a maximum of another two years (one plus one), based on good performance. The postdoctoral scholar will conduct research independently and is therefore required to apply at the beginning of the appointment term for internal research grant funding. He/she is also required to participate throughout the term of employment in teaching, typically limited to one 6 ECTS course per year. During the term of postdoctoral scholar appointment employment by another institution is not allowed.
