Cosmology Theory and Data Analysis, and Instrumentation (Electronics & VHDL/FPGA ). PI of ECL project is George Smoot, Nobel Laureate in Physics. The ECL project is implemented with the collaboration of University California in Berkley and Astrophysics Institute in Paris.

Job Description

First position

  • -to work on cosmological and astrophysical data analysis;
  • -to do theoretical research to predict and interpret cosmological and astrophysical observations;  
  • -to carry out numerical and computational calculations in cosmology and astrophysics.
  • Direct involvement in cosmology theory and data analysis;
  • - Publication of research articles;
  • - Presentation of ECL research at conferences and workshops;
  • - Collaboration with the experiment teams on issues of prediction and interpretation of data;
  • - Training  and internship visits to ECL partner institutions such as the University of California in Berkeley (USA), Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (South Korea), and Astrophysics Institute in Paris (France);
  • - Statistical and/or machine learning analysis.
Second position
  • -the study of the excitation function of resonance reactions important for nuclear physics and astrophysics;
  • -experimental works  in nuclear physics and astrophysics studies; 
  • - development of an application for additional financing from other sources;
  • Direct involvement in cosmology theory and data analysis;
  • - Publication of research articles;
  • - Presentation of ECL research at conferences and workshops;
  • - Collaboration with the experiment teams on issues of prediction and interpretation of data;
  • - Training  and internship visits to ECL partner institutions such as the University of California in Berkeley (USA), Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (South Korea), and Astrophysics Institute in Paris (France);
  • - Statistical and/or machine learning analysis.

Qualifications

Ph.D. degree in:

-Physics

-Astronomy

-Computer science

Ph.D. research in the field of physics research;

Availability of research experience and the availability of scientific papers, publications in

foreign scientific journals with impact factor and reports at international conferences;

Experience in physics, astrophysics, or cosmology;

Knowledge and high level of competence in the relevant field of science;

Fundamental and / or applied research experience;

Experience in work with students in English.

Additional Information

Theoretical background in physics, mathematics, statistics, or computer science;

- Ability to work both independently and in a team;

- Ability to communicate clearly;

Excellent spoken and written skills in English

Advanced user of PC, knowledge of programming languages. Experience in working with data is preferred.
