Nazarbayev University's School of Engineering invites applications for full-time faculty positions in Biomedical Engineering to begin in August 2019. We are interested in candidates at Associate Professor and Assistant Professor level for the following positions:

Biomaterials, Biomedical Imaging, Cell and Soft Tissue Biomechanics, Diagnostics Methods & Clinical Biochemistry

Biomaterials position requires qualifications in bio-organic chemistry, macromolecular chemistry, biomaterial synthesis and engineering, and drug delivery. The successful candidate is expected to primarily teach “Biomaterials Science & Engineering”, “Strategies for Controlled Topical Delivery of Drugs” and to build a state-of-the-art laboratory for biomaterial development, characterization and application. She/he will seek collaborations with local and distant public and private parties, and will actively search for research funding.

Biomedical Imaging position requires qualifications in advanced imaging techniques, such as ultrasound imaging, magnetic resonance imaging and 3-D tomography. The successful candidate is expected to primarily teach “Clinical Imaging Techniques” and to build a state-of-the-art laboratory for Biomedical Imaging. She/he will seek collaborations with local and distant public and private parties, and will actively search for research funding.

Cell and Soft Tissue Biomechanics position requires expertise in experimental and computational biomechanics of cells and soft-tissues with a focus on mechanobiology. The successful candidate is expected to primarily teach “Mechanics of Living Tissues” and “Biomechanics Lab” courses and build a state-of-the-art laboratory to perform experiments regarding mechanobiology. She/he will seek collaborations with local and distant public and private parties, and will actively search for research funding.

Diagnostics Methods & Clinical Biochemistry position requires theoretical and practical expertise in the development and use of diagnostic techniques in clinical applications. The successful candidate is expected to primarily teach the course “Diagnostic Methods and Clinical Chemistry” and build a state-of-the-art laboratory to perform experiments regarding diagnostic methods. She/he will seek collaborations with local and distant public and private parties, and will actively search for research funding.

We seek candidates with a commitment to excellence in both research and teaching. A PhD degree in Biomedical Engineering or a closely related field is required. All applicants are expected to have publications in well-ranked journals/conferences in the areas of their expertise. A track record in pursuing and obtaining research funding will be considered an asset.

The MSc in Biomedical Engineering Program is taking first students in Fall 2019 and is equipped with brand new 2000 m2 facilities and state of the art laboratories. The Biomedical Engineering program will be offered at UG level in coming years and is expected to attract some of the best students in Kazakhstan.

 

Initial appointment is on a 3-year renewable contract. Subsequent appointments can be 5-year/3-year, renewable subject to satisfactory performance. An attractive internationally competitive remuneration package will include:

●        Internationally competitive salary;
