About the Role: Charles Sturt University Sydney is seeking a qualified and dedicated Workplace Learning Coordinator / Lecturer in Social Work to contribute to the academic excellence and continued growth of our postgraduate courses. In this dynamic role, you will facilitate student access to high quality workplace learning opportunities, supporting the development of reflective, ethical, and practice ready professionals. You will play a key role in preparing students for careers in social work and human services, including areas such as mental health, ageing, child and family practice, and Australian Indigenous welfare. As part of a collaborative and engaged academic team, you will contribute to the delivery of subjects including workplace learning subjects across Social Work and Human Services at Graduate Certificate and Master (Postgraduate) levels, including on-campus teaching. Key Responsibilities:

• Co-ordinate and deliver subjects and participate in scholarly activities as appropriate in the pursuit of high-quality student-centred workplace learning opportunities in the relevant discipline, which include face to face teaching and assessment.
• Build strong professional relationships with students and provide timely and appropriate consultation and feedback in matters related to workplace learning prior to, during, and following placements in accordance with established policies and accreditation guidelines.
• Contribute to collaborative processes to design, deliver and continually improve high quality workplace learning experiences for students including the giving and receiving of constructive feedback.
• Establish and maintain strategic relationships and networks with a range of stakeholders including community, government, and industry/professional bodies to facilitate access to quality workplace learning opportunities.
• Assist students who are at risk of not successfully completing the workplace learning component of the course by ensuring they are given every opportunity to develop skills and competencies as required for professional practice and standards of the accrediting bodies.
• Undertake roles within the workplace learning program, including Field Education Liaison Officer (FELO), Field Educator (off-site supervisor) and the supervision and assessment of recognition of prior learning (RPL) as part of the Professional Practice Strand (PPA).
• Provide, evaluate and report on professional development for staff who supervise CSU student placements in compliance with policies and professional standards.
• Maintain a commitment to continuous improvement in teaching and learning
• Stay updated on the latest Social Work trends and issues.
• Other duties appropriate to the position.

Qualifications and selection criteria

• A minimum of a Master’s degree in Social Work or a related field, with eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) and at least five years (FTE) of post-qualifying professional social work experience. A PhD in Social Work or related field is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated experience teaching Social Work at the university level, including subject coordination and the delivery of student-centred learning.
• Significant social work and human services experience, demonstrating professional credibility and the ability to integrate practical expertise into academic teaching.
• Knowledge and understanding of workplace learning in social work and human services, with a proven ability to establish and maintain strong partnerships, networks, and industry relationships to support student placements and learning outcomes.
• Evidence of a strong commitment to high-quality, student-centred teaching and learning, including the ability to engage, mentor, and support diverse student cohorts effectively.
• Demonstrated capacity to work independently and collaboratively in a complex academic environment, including interdisciplinary engagement and contributing to professional program outcomes.
• Comprehensive understanding of Social Work and Human Services concepts, principles, emerging trends, and best practices in creating inclusive and culturally safe learning environments.
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, effective classroom management, problem-solving abilities, and the ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students. Evidence of promoting equity, diversity, and an inclusive educational community.
• Membership of a scholarly organisation, a track record of scholarship or advanced professional practice, and familiarity with curriculum development and contemporary teaching methods.
