Job Description

The Course Leader: Community Services provides academic and strategic leadership for the Bachelor of Community Services. This role plays a pivotal part in the success of the discipline, leading teaching excellence, course development, staff support, and academic governance. As a senior academic, the Course Leader also fosters a culture of scholarship, industry engagement, and professional development aligned with College and accreditation standards. 
 

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing academic leadership and strategic oversight for the undergraduate Community Services programs

• Leading course planning, development, accreditation, and quality assurance processes

• Overseeing and contributing to course delivery, including staff appointments and mentoring

• Supporting student success by monitoring academic performance and engagement

• Collaborating across teams including admissions, student support, and academic design

• Representing the course at governance committees and contributing to policy implementation

• Driving a culture of teaching excellence, scholarship, and continuous improvement

• Building strong connections with industry, professional bodies, and academic partners

This role may be based in either our Melbourne or Adelaide campus locations.

Qualifications

Both a qualification from an appropriate cognate discipline and professional experience deemed equivalent by the College to one AQF level above the course level.

  • Experience working in a higher education institution
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Scholarly and/or industry expertise in the early childhood education field
  • A student-focused approach and commitment to high-quality teaching
  • Demonstrated ability to build cross-functional relationships and lead teams
  • Proficiency in relevant educational technologies and systems
  • Awareness of transferable skills and cultural inclusivity
  • A commitment to academic and operational excellence through continuous improvement
