Job Description

The Student and Academic Services Manager is responsible for the efficient and effective delivery of student and academic administrative processes and the development of a service-oriented Student and Academic Services team. 

The position will provide strategic and operational input to assist staff decision-making, and manage relationships between administration staff and other functional areas across the College/Campus and the partner University.

Responsibilities and Duties: 

  • Lead and manage the development and implementation of consistent, streamlined and high quality student and academic services 
  • Ensure teams maintain knowledge of current policies, procedures and regulations to provide accurate advice to students and staff 
  • Apply expertise and provide guidance to staff on more difficult cases and on utilising policies, procedures, 
  • legislation, student rules, regulations and documented user procedures 
  • Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement in student and academic services 
  • Represent the College/Campus in a range of forums and events to internal and external audiences 
  • Initiate and manage activities to support the relevant College/Campus plans as they relate to student and academic services 
  • Develop and maintain productive working relationships with the partner University 
  • Collaborate with Navitas Group IT in the maintenance of data integrity, system improvements and reporting to regulatory authorities 

Student Administration team functions: 

  • Provide effective leadership, management and supervision to teams supporting activities within the student life cycle, including: orientation, enrolment, exams, results, student progression, course completion, awards, scholarships, graduation 
  • Oversee the front counter enquiry functions and ensure accurate, high quality advice is provided in a timely manner 
  • Develop annual academic calendars that incorporate all associated College/Campus activities for relevant approvals 
  • Oversee the administration of student and staff evaluations and the development of subsequent reports and action plans 

Academic Administration team functions: 

  • Provide effective leadership, management and supervision to teams supporting academic administration activities including: course version control and streaming processes; end of semester systems rollovers to subsequent teaching periods; articulation agreements and credit; internal and external moderation; class timetabling and textbook availability 
  • Ensure timely support of administrative processes for teaching staff 

 

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience and training 
  • Excellent communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills 
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and work independently 
  • Well-developed time management and organisational skills 
  • High levels of initiative and problem solving skills 
  • Relevant and recent experience in service provision management, preferably in an education setting 
  • Well-developed analytical and conceptual skills 
  • Strong commitment to customer service
