Job Description

The teacher will be responsible for the delivery of English-based units in the Foundation Program such as academic writing and communication skills.

This role includes teaching, providing academic support to students, exam / test supervision and marking of assignments and exams. Teachers are expected to demonstrate the following:

  • A commitment to teaching and contribution to student development through professional activities and involvement in administration of programs.
  • A willingness to embrace new technologies.
  • The ability to plan and deliver English lessons tailored to the Foundation program curriculum.
  • Teach units such as Academic Writing, Academic Communication or other English-focused subjects.
  • Administer assessments, provide timely feedback, and track student progress.
  • Identify learning challenges and adapt strategies to support individual student needs.
  • Support students to become independent and critical learners in an academic context
  • Use the learning management system (Moodle) for resources, assessments, and communication.
  • Engage in professional development and reflective teaching practices.

 

Qualifications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with a learning management system to assist and enhance the delivery of subject content.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and empathy for a multicultural environment.
  • A comprehensive understanding of pathway programs and their articulation with university courses.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and initiate change.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with changing priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Tertiary qualification in education and/or a relevant field of expertise related to English teaching to international students, such as TESOL or CELTA.
  • Working with Children Check.
