Job Description

Key Responsibilities: 

University of Sydney Preparation Programme Teachers will work as directed by Academic Managers in a range of areas related to their field(s) of expertise. They will undertake duties such as: 

 

Facilitation of Teaching, Learning, Assessment and Feedback, to include;

Develop, review and modify assessments (including rubrics) for various contexts and delivery methods... .

  • Review and manage Moodle by setting up and/or updating module delivery content (lecture, tutorial, workshop, lab and/or assessment) in line with teaching activities.
  • Develop, setup and confirm accuracy of assessment (including online rubrics) in Moodle
  • Review on an ongoing basis the learning management system (moodle) module gradebooks for accuracy and accessibility to staff and students.
  • Prepare and provide feedback on formative assessment tasks.
  • Ensure marking of assessments with sufficient detailed feedback to assist student’s academic improvement.
  • Support the communication to students of the USYD Partnership Student Success Policy Framework.
  • Be responsible for effective classroom management (i.e. attendance, in-class behaviour) enabling student success for all.

 

Module Delivery: 

  • Prepare, maintain evaluate teaching and learning resources to reflect current good practice.
  • Prepare for and manage College intervention weeks providing feedback on student progress.
  • Assist with diagnostic assessment of student learning support.

 

Academic Scholarship: 

  • Engage with Navitas professional updating to support currency in teaching, learning and  assessment strategies.
  • Provide feedback report after attending scholarly activities (i.e. conferences, seminars etc.) 
  • Participate in College Peer Observation programme.

 

General Administration: 

  • Take student roll and record attendance for each session.
  • Maintain accurate records of enrolled users in Moodle.
  • Ensure student assessments are marked and student outcomes are accurately uploaded to moodle in a timely manner as identified in the Academic Calendar.
  • Participate in meetings, activities and networks (both internal and external) relevant to the Teacher position.

 

 

 

Qualifications

Qualifications and Selection Criteria 

Essential: 

  • Tertiary qualifications in education and/or a relevant field of expertise and related Academic Discipline... 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Experience with a learning management system to assist and enhance the Module delivery. 
  • Demonstrated understanding of and empathy for an International Education environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, embrace change and manage competing priorities.
  • Working with children check undertaken prior to appointment

  • Communication Skills: including appropriate verbal and written communication, appropriate body language and active listening skills.
  • Creativity: including problem solving, critical thinking and innovation.
  • Interpersonal Skills: including networking, working collaboratively developing interpersonal relationships and seeking conflict resolution.
  • Personal Skills: including demonstrating emotional Intelligence, self- awareness, tolerance of change and uncertainty, taking onboard constructive feedback, adaptability and resilience.

 

Desirable: 

  • Experience of facilitating learning in a Higher Education International Student setting.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of quality principles and methodology incorporating continuous improvement initiatives. 
  • Expertise in curriculum design and the use of learning technologies.
