Job Description
- Maintain discipline knowledge through scholarship, industry liaison and professional development;
- Foster innovative teaching and learning strategies that align with those of Edith Cowan University;
- Manage teaching staff and the ongoing professional development in their discipline, as well as contemporary teaching, learning and assessment;
- Teach units in Computer Science and Cyber Security, which may include conducting lectures, tutorials and practical classes;
- Nominate appropriately qualified staff to deliver teaching, for approval of the Dean Academic Programs and ECU;
- Oversee / undertake the implementation of agreed quality assurance processes with the ECU home campus, including engagement of all teaching staff in ECU induction processes;
- Oversee the timely production, quality control and publication of approved teaching and learning materials and ensure appropriate record keeping of approvals and version;
- Plan unit offerings for each teaching session with ECU and ensure appropriate record keeping of University approvals and versions;
- Contribute to cross-campus benchmarking processes around ECU SL academic outcomes, including the delivery of ECU student evaluations;
- Work with the Dean, Academic Programs ECU SL to implement processes for the evaluation, assessment and continuous improvement of delivery;
- Contribute to ECU SL academic committee reports;
- Provide advice to students relating to courses, academic policies and procedures, program progression and other student academic matters;
- Maintain strong and effective partner relationships with relevant ECU home campus staff, engaging with relevant University academics as appropriate;
- Promote a team mindset that upholds academic integrity and actively pursues and reports any breaches;
- Assist in the growth of industry partners and in work opportunities for students;
- Other related duties as requested by the Dean.
Qualifications
Essential:
- A PhD in the Computer Science field. Masters may be considered.
- Demonstrated knowledge, skills and experience in (successfully) managing programs in the tertiary, or vocational, education sector
- Demonstrated knowledge, skills and experience in teaching at tertiary level in a related discipline
- Prior experience in the use, development or management of Learning Management Systems
- Proven effective high-level communication, interpersonal, computer and organisational skills in training and education
- Demonstrated evidence of leadership in teaching in tertiary education
Desirable:
- Demonstrated experience in contributing to the development of scholarly and innovative approaches to teaching and learning
- Demonstrated ability to engage students in learning activities
- Familiarity with the high school education system in Sri Lanka
