Job Description

The VP of Distribution & Connectivity is responsible for the tactical procurement and deployment strategies of API integrated travel services. As an innovative planner and thinker, the VP will have a large focus on establishing the company's content distribution strategy to ensure maximum productivity and revenue across a retail and wholesale model with a focus on the hotel segment. Reporting directly to the SVP, Procurement, this individual will also provide leadership by delegating tasks to management staff and ensuring the integration of collaborative planning with company operations. This role requires an extremely talented and flexible individual who has a roll up their sleeves attitude and is comfortable with a hands-on position. This VP will have the ability to leverage their existing network of global industry contacts and build a profitable portfolio of partners. This individual will be responsible for finding new profit opportunities through data analysis, process improvement and problem solving on priority projects.

Key Accountabilities

  • Identify and track content providers to determine opportunity based on volume, coverage, revenue streams and ease of integration.
  • Liaise with development team on integration timelines, system improvements and deployment.
  • Negotiate and/or oversee the negotiation of our portfolio of content providers, consolidators and aggregators across all verticals with a focus on hotel partners (Hotel, Cruise, Air, Tour)
  • Oversee the contracting cycle from prospecting through to deployment, delivering profitable contracts with new and existing partners and ongoing evaluation of rates and services.
  • Regularly evaluate and re-negotiate existing contract agreements to ensure maximum profitability.
  • Track and identify sales targets, communicate tactical adjustments and optimize earning opportunity based on total volume commitments.
  • Liaise with business leadership to create innovative strategies to leverage our consolidated volume to drive profit.
  • Influence both internal and external stakeholders through analytical proof, communication skills and a history of results in the industry
  • Build a growth strategy to efficiently manage a wide portfolio of partners.
  • Develop service level agreements, scope of work, and contract terms with service providers.
  • Evaluate and streamline business processes to maximize efficiency and effectiveness within the department to ensure department and company objectives are met.
  • Own and lead business results meeting with vendors and the business to ensure a comprehensive review of results and action items.
  • Establish innovative strategies to leverage multiple rate types, content sources and API integrations to grow overall sales in platform and increase earn rate for all businesses.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of leadership experience negotiating travel content distribution contracts on a global basis.
  • In-depth knowledge of global travel providers, especially hotels.
  • Technical integration and API knowledge an asset. 
  • Previous experience with both wholesale and retail contracts.
  • Proven network of contacts at a stakeholder level within the Global Travel Industry.
  • Exceptional negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated experience with contract negotiation and SLA’s.
  • Ability to read, analyze and translate report information into relevant data for different audiences
  • Problem solving skills and able to deal with complex issues.
  • Good business judgment with an ability to challenge plans and assumptions and take an independent stance when appropriate.
  • Provide thought leadership with regards to "strategic fit", valuation analysis and negotiation strategy and tactics.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills and an ability to communicate at the highest executive levels in the organization.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and to meet tight deadlines.
  • Upbeat personality, team player, self-starter (able to work in lean environment with autonomy) and communicate with multiple constituents.
  • Proven business acumen with a systematic, mathematical, analytical approach to problem solving and analysis.
