You’re a researcher with a strong, working understanding of a wide range of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies. You know when and what kind of questions to ask, where to probe, and how to implement the most effective research strategies. You thrive in a rapidly changing environment and enjoy setting your own research goals, managing load and expectations, and delivering actionable research findings and recommendations.  You are a dedicated advocate of a user-centred approach to product development.

Job Description

  • Work with other UXers, Product Owners, and Engineers to prioritize research opportunities in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment;
  • Design studies that address both user behavior and attitudes;
  • Collect and analyze user behavior through lab studies, field visits, ethnography, surveys, benchmark studies, server logs, and online experiments (A/B testing);
  • Interpret analysis through the lens of UX, HCI, and social science;
  • Integrate user research into product designs and design practices;
  • Advocate research findings to diverse audiences through written reports and in-person presentations in compelling and creative ways;
  • Develop and innovate on our mixed-methods user research practice.

Qualifications

  • A degree in HCI, Psychology, Anthropology, Social Science or a related field;
  • Minimum 4 years of experience working in a research role at a consumer-focused company;
  • Experience conducting semi-structured interviews, contextual field visits, heuristic evaluations, diary study, usability studies either live or remote (e.g. Userzoom, usertesting.com);
  • Strong understanding of the strengths and shortcomings of different research methods, including when and how to apply them during the product development process;
  • Experience with survey research (questionnaire design, sampling, analysis);
  • In-depth understanding of user-centered design principles and tools;
  • Ability to communicate complex analysis and results compellingly to a lay audience.
