Job Description

As part of an over $700M Canadian-owned company, TripArc is a travel technology solutions company, headquartered in downtown Toronto, Ontario.  The company has 13 offices across 3 countries - Canada, the USA, and Bermuda.   

Cutting‐edge technology is a key focus at TripArc and a driver of growth.  In 2016 TripArc launched ADX ‐ a state‐of‐the‐art booking platform that will substantially increase an agent’s efficiency and profitability. Built for travel agents, ADX’s seamless and intuitive booking environment is a game‐changing addition to an agent’s toolbox.  

As VP, Platform Infrastructure you will lead, shape and own the roadmap to scale our in-house POS and CRM tools, optimizing on-prem environments and incrementally re-investing a +$2M annual budget in public cloud technologies. The successful candidate will have directly managed and built successful on-prem server architectures and developed cloud environments supporting high volume Microsoft based applications. You are deeply familiar with firewalls, load balancing, server clustering, and complex IP networks supporting tradition physical environments and are equally at home with progressive public cloud and virtualized environments. You have worked previously with Microsoft based development teams, translating business needs into effective architectures, collaborating with developers on effective infrastructure solutions, supported by appropriate automation, monitoring, measures and policies. You are at home with the tools and methodologies supporting DevOps practices, including virtual environments, containerization, continuous integration and have directly administered .Net/IIS/MSSQL stacks. An exciting opportunity to manage a dedicated team of IT and DevOps professionals and move our platforms to new levels of scale.   

  • Cloud and DevOps evangelist while also maintaining and enhancing service delivery levels in existing hybrid environment 
  • Ownership of provider relationships across managed service providers, data centers and software providers 
  • Collaboration with head of application architecture on roadmap, availability and scalability of service delivery platforms 
  • Act as the subject matter expert in the following domains:  
    • Collocated, managed and cloud provisioned infrastructure management  
    • Microsoft Azure Cloud and Active Directory 
    • Microsoft .Net, IIS and MSSQL application environments 
    • Network and security configuration in cloud and on-prem environments 
    • VMWare ESX, Nutanix and Azure cloud environments 
    • Management of continuous integration and build automation practices 
    • Orchestration of containerized platforms including Docker and Kubernetes 
  • Planning, implementing, supporting, and maintaining all hardware, software, and infrastructure used for application delivery, security, monitoring and high availability 
  • Manage change management processes associated with upgrades, maintenance, troubleshooting or installation of new business applications and systems, including collaboration with business units, impacted customers, and technical teams 
  • Need to stay current with industry developments in the IT field and surface these developments where they have value to the efficient execution of company business or TripArc strategy. 
  • Will remain current on emerging security concerns and establish process to manage critical patches, circulate advisories, and advocate and train on proper security practices  
  • Coach, mentor and grow a highly engaged team of System Administrators and DevOps specialists 

Qualifications

Technical Skillset

  • Experience with large scale IT projects (projects at quarter million budget level, minimum) and especially complex consolidation projects. 
  • Proven ability to run IT like a business and unlock the value in large scale institutional change, in an environment of high visibility. 
  • Experience designing and managing complex network topologies and Windows web server/database application environments. 
  • Collocated, managed and cloud provisioned infrastructure management including management of web, application and database servers, SSL certificates, DNS and security practices in Windows and Kubernetes environment. 
  • Ability to design, deploy, configure and manage services in a Windows environment including web IIS, MSSQL, AD 
  • Experience with managing web, database and application server farms and n+1 architectures in both on-prem and cloud environments

  • Ability to translate business needs into structured programs to deliver, including ability to manage projects and develop schedules, roadmaps, requirements, and task tracking with stakeholders that include business, software development and system administration leads 
  • Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills
