Job Description

The Senior Vice President, Product & Technology provides strategic, operational, and product development direction to the organization with the primary focus of crafting and leading the execution of our category-defining travel technology platforms. The candidate will have demonstrated experience in managing diverse teams within an entrepreneurial setting bringing a combination of strategic vision, technical knowhow, and inspiring leadership abilities.  

The SVP will be the head of the technology and product teams and will have a track-record of inspiring, building, and leading a talented team in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. This executive will be a change agent, innovator and influencer who will bring exceptional leadership skills and the ability to drive results within a fast-growing, agile setting. This role will be best suited for executives who are motivated by the opportunity to build a high performing team that can deliver on challenging projects while optimizing performance and engagement. They will oversee all elements of the product lifecycle from conceptualization to post-launch performance. The role includes developing technology strategy and key performance indicators, while establishing goals and objectives for the product development and technology division. The ideal candidate has a proven track-record developing and scaling product strategy, creating ambitious roadmaps, and leading the product and technology execution to evolve our industry leading platforms. 

The SVP reports to the President and directly assists on all strategic and tactical strategies, department oversight, budgeting and control, and the financial performance within the technology organization and will act as one of the key executive’s leaders within the business.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working with the relevant business leads, develop and recommend IT strategies to support TripArc’s corporate and commercial growth strategies 
  • Develop the roadmap for TripArc’s proprietary platforms, which aligns to corporate strategies and objectives, and identifies opportunities and dependencies across platforms 
  • Assist team with priority decisions and roadblocks as needed to ensure timely progress towards roadmap objectives 
  • Participate in leadership and stakeholder discussions to ensure roadmap impacting updates are understood and communicated to the team  
  • Provide effective communication to all internal stakeholders on initiatives and programs to enable flawless execution of programs 
  • As the complexity of the platforms grow and become increasingly interdependent, establish an enterprise architecture function to align business and technical capabilities into a clear and comprehensive vision, with implementation strategies and delivery roadmaps while optimizing total cost of ownership 
  • Continuously evolve the team structure as needed to support the company’s growth, including Product Ownership, Business Analysis, UX Design, Development, Quality Assurance, Scrum and Project Management 
  • Identify opportunities to engage external partners to augment team capacity (eg. development, QA) and build and maintain strong external relationships. Identify and implement different engagement models depending on the company’s needs including team augmentation and discreet project deliver 
  • Balance the needs of transformation with the importance of platform stability and business continuity 
  • Establish measurable objectives for direct reports and assess performance annually 
  • Attract, retain, and develop direct reports and team members to provide a growing IT capability in the organization that enables it to keep pace with a competitive job market 
  • Provide leadership and vision, and maintain a high-level of employee morale and motivation, with a view to ensuring the implementation of TripArc’s strategy 
  • Mentor the engineers in the broader team to ensure alignment to common technology principles and concepts 
  • Contribute to defining and implementing best practices and processes for the department and ensure transparency and collaboration across teams 
  • Foster a culture that promotes integrity and TripArc’s values throughout the organization 
  • Create the strategic vision and be accountable for the outcomes – Revenue/costs and staffing for both industry leading platforms 
  • Refine and deliver monthly measurement of KPIs while providing in-depth and sophisticated analysis with interpretive thinking to define problems and develop innovative solutions 

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in a technology, product, or development organization 
  • 5+ years in an executive or senior management role  
  • Excellent and inspirational leadership skills within the technology sector 
  • Excellent ability to relate directly to business stakeholders 
  • Direct knowledge and understanding of multiple disciplines and continuous process improvement in support of business objectives 
  • Balance of creativity, clear thinking, and excellent communication skills 
  • An ability to quickly grasp new concepts and integrate them into projects as appropriate and to rapidly and effectively determine the required action in a new situation 
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically yet maintain contact with day-to-day performance. Hands on with high energy, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a positive attitude 
  • Strong project management mindset and is hyper organized in their approach to delivering and managing operations 
  • Ability to establish and build trust with professionals throughout the business as a leader, advisor, and business partner to the organization with a clear client orientation 
  • Exposure to in-house, nearshore, and outsourced delivery models 
  • Fiscal planning and budget management experience 
  • Exceptional presentation and communication skills
