The Principal Investigator handles the management and integrity of the design, conduct, and technical reporting of assigned projects. Additionally, the Principal Investigator collaborates with the PMO office and/or the Project/Program Manager to ensure correct execution of project work. The Principal Investigator reports to the Chief Technology Officer.

General Administrative Duties:

• Coordinates with Accounting, Legal and other internal administrative personnel to:
  • Help ensure that technical work activities follow company and sponsoring agency policies and procedures.
  • Assist the Project Manager to determine whether project charges are allowable and allocable per company and sponsoring agency policies and procedures.
• Responsible for delivering technical solutions to the sponsoring agency.
• Administers and oversees all technical activities of an assigned project or program.
• Collaborates with PMO office to administer project funds.
• Assists the Project Manager in verification of authenticity and accuracy of expended project funds.

Business development

• Prepares technical content and work breakdown for proposals for new business efforts that meet company and sponsoring agency policies and procedures.
• Makes key budgetary decisions and verifies that proper cost projections are prepared to deliver the proposed project scope.
• Prepares or coordinates with PMO office to prepare categorized budget and justification and confirm accuracy and completeness of budgeted costs.
• Prepares or coordinates with PMO office to prepare a revised categorized budget based on the actual award and the specific needs of the project.
• Creates and fosters relationships with current and potential sponsoring agencies.
• Participates in color team proposal review process at the request of the PMO or CTO office.

Project Execution

• Oversees the project's technical work, supplying key decisions in design or other technical direction.
• Serves as the primary technical interface to the sponsoring agency, taking part in all virtual or in person customer meetings where technical content is discussed.
• Transforms sponsoring agency feedback during project execution into actionable work items for the technical team.
• Makes key decisions about technical work scope if conflicts arise with project deadlines.
• Manages external technical collaborations as necessary for project execution.
• Obtains, maintains, and safeguards equipment used to conduct technical work per company and sponsoring agency policies and procedures.
• Follows technical, progress, and compliance reporting requirements per company and sponsoring agency policies and procedures.

Project Closeout

• Submits correct and prompt closeout documents to the sponsoring agencies per company and sponsoring agency policies and procedures

• 5+ yrs. with autonomous systems
• Strong understanding with: Linux, C++, and Python
• ROS
• PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Robotics 
• Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S
