Job Description

The Packaging team implements and delivers software application packages to de deployed in end-user’s workstations and servers by using modern application deployment techniques.

A Windows Packaging Engineer must have a DevOps mindset willing to introduce automation on the packaging process, besides implementing modern application deployment techniques.

It will be part of a packaging team to support application packaging for Windows 10 and Windows Servers deployment.

Packaging will consist of building silent and interactive installation packages and performing initial installation testing on Windows 10 before delivery to the internal clients for user acceptance testing.

Package and Integrate

  • Receive requests for application packaging, instruct and verify prerequisites in relation to product / application managers
  • Integrate and package the different applications, including qualification, testing, compatibility, and compliance
  • Provide technical support on the perimeter regardless of the manufacturing stage – qualification, pilot, production
  • Working on both existing and new applications, the employee will have to regularly carry out tests and recipes to ensure optimal operation of the latest releases.
  • Contribute to the maintenance and compliance of applications and package

Automate and Industrialize

  • Promote packaging automation whenever it brings added value to the customer or team by taking part in AppFast implementation or any other packaging automation solution
  • Take part in the evolution and transformation of processes around patch and package industrialization solutions by integrating a DevOps mindset:
    • Carry out the integration (in a DevOps approach).
    • Install, administer, and develop automation solutions
    • Automate and orchestrate the various chains of continuous integration, compilation and delivery, and contribute to the automation of administrative tasks
    • Automate system deployment and configuration and application configuration
    • Implement KPI’s for the evaluation and monitoring of products/processes/tests
    • Actively contribute to the improvement of existing and new processes

Optimize and Modernize Business

  • Actively contribute on the convergence projects, modernization, and transformation of the department
  • Perform actions to transform application packages (into Intune packages or other solution/technology)
  • Migrate and merge the Application Catalog 
  • Deliver and maintain a modern user-friendly app store
  • Participate in the implementation of DevOps practices on convergence and modernization projects to automate the build and deployment of applications and make deliveries more reliable

Qualifications

Technical Skills: 

  • Good level of English - minimum B2 (mandatory)
  • Relevant experience in a similar role (ideally 2-5 years)
  • Windows desktop environments
  • Packaging methods, MECM, Intune and system scripting tools (PowerShell)
  • Powershell App Deployment Toolkit (PSADT)
  • Windows Installer (MSI) technology
  • Windows Package Manager
