Job Description

The Database Infrastructure Expert designs, deploys, standardizes and maintains the foundations and services of Databases solutions on-premises systems and in the cloud.

Manages technical infrastructure projects and contribute to business projects. On a day-to-day basis, he performs on-demand work on these environments, which he will optimize considering performance, capacity and costs. He guarantees the quality of service and solutions in all technical environments and the control of operational risk. He ensures and develops the expertise of its field. He can also be asked to support business projects in his area of expertise.

As a Database Infrastructure Expert, you will be responsible for:

-          Industrialize and Automate (IaaC) all SGBD infrastructure management processes and actions to optimize the costs and processing times of these actions in a rapidly increasing scope

-          Bring added value to internal and external customers through the provision of new services (As a Service) dedicated DBMS

The Database Infrastructure Engineer monitors, designs, deploys, and maintains the databases infrastructure regarding the hardware and software. He optimizes these environments by considering the performance, capacity, and costs. He also guarantees the quality of service and the control of operational risk. He should also support all the projects in his area of expertise.

As a Database Infrastructure Engineer you will be responsible for:

-          Industrially migrate the database environments of business applications as part of the SGBD Migration Factory to remove obsolescence from SGBD environments,

-          Reduce operational risks and contribute to functionally enriching processes,

-          SGBD Migration Factory tools and solutions

Qualifications

Studies and Controls:

-          Define standard technical services and solutions and their respective sizing

-          Develop detailed configuration specifications

-          Define standards for the use and operation of DBMS

-          Contribute to the development of technical solutions for the catalogue and architecture patterns of DBMS solutions.

-          Publish, present and explain those solutions and their associated SLAs

-          Contribute to the development and maintenance of the Infrastructure Evolution Plan

-          Develop, industrialize and automate deployment models (IaaC) for:  

o   all processes and actions for managing DBMS infrastructure components

o   all DBMS services in the form of "As a Service" to add value to internal and external customers

-          Monitor and control versions of existing databases and software packages selected by the company

-          Ensure and guarantee the integrity of the infrastructure bases of the existing databases by guaranteeing physical security (backup procedures, restoration, logging, start-up after incidents, etc.) and logic (confidentiality, access)

-          Adjust database settings for optimal use.

-          Ensure technological monitoring of the DBMS solutions and software packages selected by the company

 

Prototyping and qualification of technical solutions for internal company standards

-          Build models and prototypes

-          Perform conformity and approval tests (technical and functional)

-          Write evaluation and functional reports

-          Validate solutions to make them the corporate standards

Audit and Recommendations

-          Perform:

o   Architecture audits

o   Architecture performance studies and analysis

o   Databases’ tuning

-          Support production teams and/or publishers on escalated issues

Contribution to Business Projects

-          Define, approve and validate technical architectures

-          Advise users - Develop recommendations for business projects

-          Participate in data migration projects

-          Industrially migrate the database environments of business applications as part of the SGBD Migration Factory to remove obsolescence from SGBD environments, reduce operational risks and contribute to functionally enriching processes, SGBD Migration Factory tools and solutions

-          Create, at request of the domains or the exploitation or in anticipation of the needs, the specific tools of assistance to the exploitation

 

Contribution to IT Development Projects

-          Define, approve and validate technical architectures

-          Assume the role of project manager (for some Databases Infrastructure Projects)

-          Contribute to technical projects.

-          Document, coach, follow, write procedures, perform customer packages, etc.

 

Exploitation & Support

-      Implement automatic monitoring (technical and functional)

-      Capacity Planning

-      Management and analysis (AI) tools for directing infrastructure logs Databases

-      Provide third-level technical support (L3) for all databases and assist users (training, technical queries, etc.)

 

Other Requirements:

-          Contribute to the monitoring and control of investments, maintenance and budget

-          English level B2 / French is a plus

-          Good communication skills

-          Good organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills

-          Autonomous, while capable of working within a team and with other teams and/or experts

-          Fast learner, easy to adapt, team worker

-          Client focus

-          Availability to:

o   On Duty Call

o   Punctual trips to France

Additional Information

Early morning. Campo 24 de Agosto. In 4 minutes, you are clocking in at the office. After grabbing a cup of coffee and fresh fruit, pick up your laptop and choose your spot for the day. It's going to be a busy one: French class before lunch and, just after, quick medical appointment at Natixis doctor's office.
 
Lunch break. Outside in the big terrace (look at your crops at the Urban Garden; ready to harvest!) or, if you feel like stretching your legs, walk downtown to grab lunch.
 
Back inside. Quick sprint review (working together anywhere means virtual happy birthday to that colleague in Paris that just turned 35). The afternoon went flying (tasks, reports, calls, some jokes with your teammates). End it on a high note: just one PlayStation game or the final match for that ping-pong tournament.
 
Tomorrow, you complete that certified technical training and the day after, you will work from home, taking advantage to finally do that online course on Udemy. Once you are done with your tasks for the day, you can visit the office for a board games session or show up at the rehearsal of one of Natixis bands. If that is too steady for you, meet your colleagues to surf some waves or join them in a football match.
