Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY 

The National Organization for Women (NOW) seeks a full-time, Social Media Associate. This role is based in NOW’s Washington, D.C. office. This position requires occasional weekend, evening and early morning hours. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Strategize with our staff on upcoming campaigns and initiatives 

  • Keep abreast of developments in the communications sector that could foster greater, more efficient dissemination of NOW's message 

  • Attend staff meetings, reporting out accomplishments and social media growth 

  • Manage President’s professional social media accounts, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram 

  • Creates marketing and social media campaigns and strategies, including budget planning, content ideation, and implementation schedules 

  • Ensures brand consistency in marketing and social media messages by working with various company department members, including advertising, product development, and brand management 

  • Provides training and guidance to social media and marketing team members on social media implementation best practices and strategies 

  • Collects customer data and analyses interactions and visits, plus uses this information to create comprehensive reports and improve future marketing strategies and campaigns 

  • Reports progress to senior marketing management 

  • Grows and expands company social media presence into new social media platforms, plus increases presence on existing platforms including Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram 

  • Researches and monitors activity of company competitors 

  • Creates and distributes engaging written or graphic content in the form of e-newsletters, web page and blog content, or social media messages 

  • Edit and post video as needed 

  • Coordinate the design of materials and informational items, invitations, signs, fliers, brochures, newsletters, etc. 

  • Demonstrated commitment to intersectional feminism 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED 

  • 3-5 years of Strong functional knowledge of social media principles, practices, and the desire to apply that knowledge in a professional environment. 

  • Experience with Adobe Apps, Premiere Pro, Canva, Facebook Live 

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. 

  • Ability to work well and quickly under pressure both individually and as a part of a team  

  • Excellent project management skills to consistently meet deadlines. 

  • NOW members preferred, but not mandatory 

Salary and Benefits

Starting at 45k plus benefits, fully remote

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

This position is largely sedentary in nature however one must possess the ability to speak, hear, and write as well as the ability to use a computer and related software programs, and lift up to 20 lbs. Ongoing local and/or national travel periodically required.
