Job Description
I. Summary
Reports to: Director of Security
Area of Responsibility: Venue/Event Security
Salaried/Hourly: Hourly
Job Summary: Monitors and maintains a secure environment during specified shift with special emphasis on events
II. Primary Duties and Responsibilities
1. Works as a roving guard during specified shift
2. Ensure all building, organizational and client assets are protected from security risks, personnel threats, asset losses and safety hazards during shift
3. Enforce security practices, policies, and procedures
4. Responds to all various alarms
5. First responder to staff and guest accidents
6. Fill out appropriate paperwork and forms post accident
7. Monitor and resolve Symphony Place traffic issues
8. Maintain State of Tennessee guard license
9. Dress appropriately at all times
10. Assist with any special events as needed
11. After hours point of contact for perspective clients
12. Contact person for all event security staff
13. Manage security staff during all events
III. Management Responsibilities
Directly manages contract employees and part time off-duty police officers as necessary.
The duties listed above are not all inclusive. The person in this position is expected to perform other work-related duties as assigned though they may not be considered primary duties.
Qualifications
IV. Work Requirements and Qualifications
1. Education: High School diploma or equivalent (GED)
2. Experience: A minimum of three years experience in security management in a public facility or law enforcement agency
3. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: State of Tennessee unarmed guard/officer license
4. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Working knowledge of security management systems (fire alarm, CCTV, keys and locks, access control, etc…)
Investigative skills for determining accuracy in the reporting of incidents
Helpful attitude in developing creative response and solutions to needs and issues
Excellent written and verbal skills
Ability to work independently and use independent judgment while keeping supervisor informed of work activity and issues
Ability to coordinate multiple projects and balance a sense of urgency with lower priorities while maintaining calm
A good sense of humor and global perspective is a plus
Computer skills: working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
Work flexible hours depending on operational needs of staff or systems
Should have own vehicle and valid driver license
5. Equipment to be Used: Personal computer, digital camera, two-way radio, telephone
6. Physical Demands: The employee is regularly required to stand, talk, and listen. The employee is required to walk, use hands to fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color, and depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
