Founded in 1946, the 83-member orchestra is today the largest performing arts nonprofit in the state of Tennessee. Job Description

  • Maintain a working knowledge of the Nashville Symphony’s daily calendar of events and security requests
  • Serve as the central communications point for all daily building operations at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center
  • Greet all guests with or without appointments as they enter the building and respond to their inquiries professionally and efficiently
  • Ensure all visitors sign in and out of building in accordance with established procedures; assist employees with Stage Door entry when necessary
  • Ensure the Stage Door is secure at all times
  • Answer radio calls and requests directed to the Stage Door
  • Answer and route all incoming calls to the relevant extensions
  •  Monitor exterior cameras and report any facility related issues
  • Monitor dock gate and answer employee calls for entry
  • Receive mail and packages; ensure deliveries are distributed by informing the relevant persons of their arrival
  •  Monitor building alarm panels (fire, flood, generator, power, etc.) and report any issues
  • Turn on lights related to building operations as needed
  • Ensure all evacuation procedures are followed in the event of an emergency and make announcements using the public address system when necessary
  • Serve as point of contact for any onsite emergencies, including guest accidents
  • Maintain good working relationships with all persons associated with the Nashville Symphony, demonstrating at all times a high standard of customer service
  • Promote the Nashville Symphony, its facility and programs in an accurate and informed manner to both internal and external customers
  • Ensure the Stage Door area is kept tidy and presentable at all times
  • Dress in a professional manner

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • A minimum of one year related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to work independently and use sound judgment while keeping supervisor informed of work activity and issues
  • Possess highly effective interpersonal skills and problem-solving activities
