Valentine, the Nashville Symphony has established an international profile with its innovative programming and steadily expanding discography. Founded in 1946, the 83-member orchestra is today the largest performing arts nonprofit in the state of Tennessee. With 140 performances annually, the Symphony’s concert schedule encompasses a diverse mix of classical, pops, jazz and family programs, along with extensive community outreach efforts.

Job Description

The Development Events Intern will provide support for development events that are scheduled to occur during the spring semester such as the Stradivarius Society Dinner and the Symphony Fashion Show. The Development Events Intern will also be expected to assist in event orders and inventory for the Founders Hall, update records, support the planning for the Musician Appreciate Dinner in May, and other long-term projects. Intern must be available on April 3, 2018 and April 17, 2018; otherwise, schedule is flexible according to intern’s schedule.

Qualifications

All interns must be students at accredited colleges and universities.

  • The internship must be a part of the student’s curriculum.
  • The internship must provide earned hours that are directly applied to the student’s degree.
  • Interns must work a minimum of 135 hours per semester.
  • Interns must be available to work some evenings and select weekends during the season.
  • Interns must be high-energy, detail-oriented, team players, and organized.
  • Internships do not provide compensation.
  • Internships do not guarantee full-time positions with the Symphony upon completion.
