Overview
The Manager, Commercial Accounting is responsible for managing the commercial accounting operations and monthly close and maintaining a system of internal controls that will ensure that company assets are adequately safeguarded and that all financial reporting is prepared in compliance with all financial policies and SEC requirements.

Primary Responsibilities
• Manage the daily operations and month close activities of the commercial accounting team.
• Monitor and record transactions and financial events in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and company policy.
• Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and annual accounting reporting and reconciliations.
• Perform and assist in monitoring SOX key controls and ensure no gaps or deficiencies in the operation of key controls.
• Assist in implementing and performing gross to net calculations, management reports and commercial accounting reconciliations.
• Oversee the monitoring and recording of government and payor rebate accruals, payments and reporting.
• Oversee the monitoring and recording of inventory accounting; including COGM, standard cost inventory and COGS
• Maintain fixed asset and lease accounting reconciliations and ledgers
• Oversee the monitoring of cash bank accounts (including monitoring cash receipts)
• Implement product sales and royalty accounting for third party license agreements and partnerships.
• Support quarterly and year-end financial audit activities.
• Help document new accounting transactions.
• Perform ad hoc analysis and projects as requested.
• Assist with analyzing financial statements on a monthly basis and report on variances.
• Mentors and works closely with all members of the team to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Formulates and provides guidance with regard to accounting policies.

 

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
• Strong understanding of accounting theory
• CPA designation required
• 5-7+ years accounting/finance experience
• Pharma/Biotech experience is preferred
Big four accounting experience preferred
• Knowledge of NetSuite and Concur is preferred
• Team player and positive work ethic
• Highly detail oriented and organized in work
• Ability to meet assigned deadlines
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives
• Proficiency with email and Microsoft Office applications
• Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving, and results
