Job Description

The Accounts Payable Manager is responsible for overseeing all activities necessary to process Canadian, United States (U.S.), and United Kingdom (U.K.) accounts payable including maintaining related records, preparing and reviewing accounts payables entries and payments, communicating with vendors and preparing special reports for management. They will be part of a team of professionals working to automate processes and maintain order and transparency for the company’s finances. Able to work comfortably with numbers, the Accounts Payable Manager is a model for strong attention to detail for the team of accounts payable employees at Aurinia. The goal is to contribute to the overall efficient operation of the department, aiding in company decision making and ultimately long-term corporate success.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage a team of Accounts Payable clerks, monitoring daily workflow and ensuring timely processing of Accounts Payable transactions by measuring performance, volume and quality of processing.
  • Ensure corporate policy, procedures and financial internal controls are followed company wide.
  • Ensures accuracy and completeness of accounting records.
  • Primary contact for vendors and business units, responding to and resolving conflicts.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
  • Establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with colleagues.
  • Generate aging AP reports and data analytics as required.
  • Prepare cheque/EFT/wire requisitions/payment uploads/banking. Prepare cash calls for treasury.
  • Review all expense reports for corporate credit cards and out of pocket expenses.
  • Supervise monitoring of central inbox, responding to inquiries and distributing incoming correspondence, as required.
  • Hiring, training, motivating and developing direct reports.
  • Support Accounting Manager, Controller and CFO as required.

Qualifications

  • A degree or diploma in accounting and 3 to 5 years leadership experience within the accounts payable function, or 8+ years of experience in an Accounts Payable Manager role.
  • A strong understanding of best practices and automation for accounts payable activities and processes.
  • Good understanding and knowledge of accrual accounting.
  • Proficient skills in the Microsoft Office suite: Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with Oracle NetSuite considered an asset.
  • Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Exceptional work ethic, attention to detail and time management skills. Able to work well under pressure.
  • Resourceful and innovative in approach to work. Ability to prioritize multi-competing commitments while remaining flexible.
