Aurinia is a clinical stage biopharmaceutical company focused on developing and commercializing therapies in disease areas of high unmet medical need. We are currently developing voclosporin, an investigational drug, for the treatment of Lupus Nephritis (LN) and focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS). Additionally, we are advancing voclosporin ophthalmic solution (VOS), a topical formulation, for the treatment of dry eye syndrome (DES).

Job Description

We are looking for an Accounting Manager to supervise, track and evaluate day-to-day activities along with monthly, quarterly, and annual internal and external reporting. Accounting Manager responsibilities include compiling timely and accurate financial information by implementing and maintaining systems and procedures for collecting, analyzing, verifying and reporting information. We are looking for a driven, positive and adaptable individual to work closely with our financial team.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage and perform daily operations of the accounting department including:
    • Month-end, quarter-end and year-end process
    • Accounts payable/receivable
    • Cash receipts
    • General ledger
    • Payroll
    • Treasury
    • Revenue and expenditure variance analysis
    • Capital assets reconciliations
  • Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial reports or statements
  • Oversee regulatory compliance issues
  • Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies and principles
  • Coordinate and complete annual audits
  • Provide recommendations
  • Improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions
  • Assign projects and direct staff to ensure compliance and accuracy
  • Meet financial accounting objectives and deadlines
  • Lead accounting department in monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting process, particularly during the month-end, quarter-end and year-end close process
  • Establish and maintain fiscal files and records to document transactions
  • Manage financial projects including budget and deliverables to ensure timely and accurate project completion
  • Ad-hoc research and reporting

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting 
  • CPA designation 
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with a portion of it being in a supervisory role
  • Accounting experience working in public practice an asset 
  • Proficiency using ERP systems and office systems (ex. Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Advanced computer skills
  • Ability to manipulate large amounts of data
  • Proven knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations
  • Understanding of SOX compliance and internal controls 
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong analytical skills with a proven sense of initiative 
  • A collaborative team player 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills 
  • Ability to travel when necessary to other Aurinia offices (Victoria, BC & Rockville, MD)
