Aurinia is a clinical stage biopharmaceutical company focused on developing and commercializing therapies in disease areas of high unmet medical need. We are currently developing voclosporin, an investigational drug, for the treatment of Lupus Nephritis (LN) and focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS). Additionally, we are advancing voclosporin ophthalmic solution (VOS), a topical formulation, for the treatment of dry eye syndrome (DES).

Job Description

The Vice President, Marketing will be responsible for the overall development of Marketing strategy and execution for voclosporin in Lupus Nephritis (LN). This includes overseeing development of launch campaign, supporting the short- and long-term planning processes for the brand, maximizing revenue and building a world class marketing team. The revenue and overall success of the product will depend heavily on the strategic planning and output of the Marketing team. This team will manage the launch of a new product to market, be responsible for strategically branding and positioning the product, influencing market penetration and managing the ongoing life cycle of the brand. This position will report to the General Manager Americas and will have direct reports.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops voclosporin brand plan(including non-branded initiatives), positioning of product and strategic imperatives in LN
  • Leads Marketing execution against the strategic imperatives for the voclosporin in LN
  • Develops and oversees execution of tactical plans to maximize market share
  • Ensures Sales teams have messaging and tools to promote portfolio across multiple stakeholder groups
  • Establishes objectives, goals and key performance indicators (KPI) to evaluate Brand performance across portfolio
  • Collaborates with Research, Clinical Development, Medical Affairs, Market Access, Legal, Regulatory, Corporate Affairs and Commercial colleagues to help drive brand strategic imperatives and to successfully execute brand plan
  • Partners with Patient Services to develop, launch and enhance patient support programs while ensuring strategic alignment
  • Interprets competitive insights from pipeline programs in LN and assesses impact on Aurinia’s product positioning
  • Partners with Market Access to develop, launch and enhance the product value proposition and messaging ensuring strategic alignment to overall plan
  • Develops relationships with medical experts, industry organizations and advocacy groups to advance education, obtain advice and inform internal strategies, and support patients
  • Lead brand team members to ensure timely execution of launch activities such as generic & brand names, packaging, core HCP & Patients messaging and promotional material
  • Establish market development plans and execute market/product preparation with key regions on a national basis
  • Collaborate with Commercial Operations to develop deep customer insights to shape our commercial strategy
  • Partners with Medical, Legal, and Regulatory (MLR) to drive business in a compliant way

Qualifications

  • BA or BS required (MBA degree preferred)
  • 12+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical industry, including some combination of marketing, market research, sales, market access and new product planning
  • Team leader or team member for multiple product launches
  • Product launch and “first and only FDA approved” drug experience
  • Marketing and product launch experience with rare disease and/or autoimmune drugs
  • Marketing and product launch experience where there is an established standard of care (SOC) and/or product may be seen as an additive therapy
  • Launching and marketing products with specialty pharmacy distribution models, patient service centers, and potentially nursing support services
  • Experience branding and launching patient support programs
  • Good understanding of the market access environment in the US and potential impact on brand planning
  • Minimum of 3-5 years managing a team, including agency partners and consultants
  • Ability to act as a change agent and lead a team of people with transformational leadership skills
  • Experience and understanding of induction and maintenance treatments
  • Market development experience
  • Experience in a smaller pharma/start-up environment
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to effectively collaborate across multiple functional areas
  • Must be a clear communicator with the ability to articulate commercial strategies and drive executable plans
  • Strong understanding and commitment to the legal and regulatory environment for promoting and launching pharmaceutical products in the US
