Company Description

The Cape Breton Regional Hospital (CBRH), in Sydney, NS, is seeking a full-time plastic surgeon to join the surgical department. The service currently manages pathology of the hand, breast, head and neck, facial trauma, skin including melanoma, chronic wounds, minor burns, other. Some aesthetic surgery is possible. An interest in general reconstruction is an asset. OR and ambulatory clinic time is available, as is office space attached to the hospital with administrative support. Affiliation with Dalhousie University with an option to participate in research and surgical education at the undergraduate and postgraduate level is possible. The successful candidate will be a part of a 2 fulltime physician team in plastic surgery and 6 general surgeons.  The opportunity is available immediately.
CBRH opened its door to patients in 1995. Now, it is the second largest acute care facility in Nova Scotia that serves more than 200,000 patients a year. It is part of a four-hospital complex that also includes Glace Bay, New Waterford Consolidated, and Northside General Hospitals. Located in the historic town of Sydney, CBRH has 162 acute care beds, 36 emergency beds, 23 intermediate and critical care beds, 40 maternal child beds, 52 mental health and addiction beds, and nine palliative care beds. The hospital provides a range of primary and secondary services through in-patient, outpatient, and community-based programs.

Job Description

Duties include full scope of practice as a plastic surgeon providing care to patients within the eastern zone and participating in call.

The physician will be responsible to the Zone Department Head of Surgery for their professional responsibilities and quality of practice, and will operate within the Medical Staff Bylaws of the Nova Scotia Health Authority.
