Job Description
Support the Head of Facility Management in daily data centre operations by delivering quality facility management and customer service, while mentoring Data Centre Technicians and the 24/7 Technician Team.
What you’ll do:
- Manage installation, testing, and troubleshooting of fiber optic and copper cabling systems for backbone and access networks.
- Install and test fiber links, cross-connects, and patch panels; verify signal integrity using OTDR and power meters.
- Collaborate with customers and telecom providers on cross connect provisioning and troubleshooting.
- Mentor and train junior data centre and telecom technicians.
- Ensure compliance with telecommunications and industry standards (TIA/EIA, BICSI, etc.).
- Maintain and update the cable register database, ensuring all copper and fiber circuits are accurately logged and traceable.
- Manage risks, customer requests, contractors, and facility operations to meet NEXTDC standards.
- Support Head of Facility Management and oversee outsourced teams.
- Plan cabling capacity and act as Facility SME for communications infrastructure.
- Assist with equipment handling, maintenance, cleanliness, and incident escalation.
- Lead training, improve processes, and develop team skills and engagement.
- Produce reports and recommend operational improvements.
Qualifications
- Strong customer communication in Bahasa Malay and English; experienced in handling escalations
- Effective planning, organizing, and analytical abilities
- Knowledge of data centre systems: rack management, IT installs, cooling, and power
- Strong expertise in cabling, cable management, and quality assurance
- Hands-on experience with fiber and copper cabling, patch panels, and cross-connects.
- Ability to use OTDRs, power meters, and other testing equipment.
- Understanding of telecom standards (TIA/EIA, BICSI)
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Willingness to learn advanced power and cooling technologies
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Familiar with building management and monitoring systems (desirable)
- Relevant electrical/telecom qualifications (desirable)
- Some knowledge of ITIL framework
- Understanding of Uptime Institute TIER IV standards is a plus
