Job Description
To be part of a team responsible for providing Database Administration services to our clients that depend upon NECSWS providing solutions and services. As a Database Administrator, you will assist with our goal to deliver excellent service to our clients and ensure that their mission critical systems are running smoothly. The team will be responsible for supporting all our blue light emergency service clients and more.
As a Database Administrator, we need you to help us deliver our solutions into live operational service for our suite of products across our entire customer portfolio.
- Management of Microsoft SQL Server installations.
- Installing and commissioning new SQL Server Installations.
- Provide proactive monitoring and management of client installations.
- Provide high-quality incident management service.
- Provide effective problem management to reduce repeat incidents.
- Ensure compliance to NEC quality standards.
- Ensure compliance to international standards.
- Create, review and update Engineering documentation, for example workplans, work instructions and technical guides.
- The role will involve extensive customer contact on both a technical and non-technical level requiring a professional and adaptable approach to communication and interaction / service.
- Present a professional approach and attitude to all work undertaken.
- Available to work and operate on an out-of-hours call-out rota.
Qualifications
Essential
- Educated to HND/HNC level or relevant industry experience with a minimum of 3-years proven experience in a comparable role/s.
- Experience in troubleshooting and problem solving.
- Proven experience administering SQL Server 2008+ installations including
- Proactive monitoring, both manual and automated.
- Performing upgrades.
- Performance tuning.
- Delivery effective backup/recovery strategies.
- Setup/Management of Clustered instances
- Setup/Management of Always on available groups
- Working knowledge of common Microsoft Platform technologies.
- Excellent customer service skills
- Proven experience working to ITIL best practices.
- Eligible for NPPV and Security Clearance
- Strong interpersonal/team skills.
- Analytical and organised.
- Flexible.
- Good communication and client facing/customer service skills.
- Full, current driving licence
Desirable
- MS Business Applications experience including Excel, Visio, Word
- Microsoft SQL Accreditation
- ITIL Practitioner
- Experience of automated monitoring systems e.g. SolarWinds, NAGIOS, CHECKMK
