Job Description

We are looking for a skilled Network & Systems Engineer (Linux) to join our growing technology team. This role blends deep network engineering expertise with Linux system administration, supporting critical infrastructure across enterprise environments.

You will play a key role in ensuring the performance, security, and reliability of our network and system platforms, while contributing to ongoing modernisation and automation initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and support network infrastructure (LAN/WAN, routing, switching, firewalls)
  • Manage and maintain Linux-based systems (RedHat, CentOS, Ubuntu)
  • Resolve incidents and service disruptions in a timely manner, ensuring minimal business impact
  • Perform proactive monitoring and management of systems and networks to prevent issues before they arise
  • Conduct root cause analysis and drive permanent fixes for recurring incidents
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability
  • Configure and maintain network security controls (VPNs, firewalls, IDS/IPS)
  • Support cloud and hybrid environments (Azure/AWS preferred)
  • Automate operational tasks using shell scripting / Python
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver infrastructure solutions
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across infrastructure and operations

Qualifications

  • Strong experience in network engineering (Cisco, Juniper, or similar)
  • Solid hands-on experience with Linux administration
  • Proven experience in incident management, troubleshooting, and service restoration
  • Experience in proactive system monitoring, capacity planning, and performance optimisation
  • Strong understanding of root cause analysis and problem management practices
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and network security principles
  • Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Prometheus, Splunk)
  • Scripting experience (Bash, Python) for automation and operational efficiency
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) is highly desirable
  • Understanding of ITIL practices (Incident, Problem, Change Management) is a plus
