Job Description
We're looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Tech Lead - iOS (Hands-On) to join our organization in Melbourne/Sydney/Brisbane. In this role, you will lead the design, development, and delivery of high-quality iOS applications while mentoring a talented team of developers. You will be responsible for setting technical direction, ensuring code excellence, and driving innovation in our mobile product offerings. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise with leadership capabilities, fostering a collaborative environment where your team can thrive and deliver exceptional results.
The role leads the architecture and design of iOS applications, ensuring they are scalable, high-performing, and maintainable. It involves making key technical decisions, overseeing the full development lifecycle from concept to App Store deployment, and proactively managing technical debt and performance optimizations to deliver a strong user experience aligned with business goals.
A core focus is mentoring and supporting junior and mid-level iOS developers through code reviews, technical guidance, and knowledge sharing. The role establishes and enforces coding standards, best practices, and development processes, while actively participating in sprint planning, estimation, and retrospectives to improve team efficiency and delivery outcomes.
Working closely with product managers, designers, and cross-functional teams, the role translates product requirements into effective technical solutions. It stays current with iOS technologies and industry trends, troubleshoots complex issues, and provides clear, pragmatic solutions that balance technical excellence with commercial and user needs.
Qualifications
- Significant years of professional iOS development experience
- Advanced proficiency in Swift and Objective-C
- Strong understanding of iOS architecture patterns (MVC, MVVM, VIPER, etc.)
- Hands-on experience with iOS frameworks including UIKit, SwiftUI, Core Data, Realm DB and networking libraries
- Proficiency with Xcode, Git, and other development tools
- Demonstrated experience building and deploying applications to the App Store
- Expertise in unit testing, debugging, and performance optimization
- Strong knowledge of REST APIs and asynchronous programming
- Android experience is good to have
- Proven experience leading technical teams or mentoring developers
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks
- Knowledge of mobile security best practices and data protection
- Excellent problem-solving skills and analytical mindset
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects effectively
