Job Description

Senior Test Analyst is responsible for ensuring that ICT systems and services meet business, functional, performance and quality requirements. The role focuses on planning, designing and executing comprehensive testing activities to validate system behaviour and ensure solutions are fit for purpose.

Working with limited direction, Senior Test Analyst applies sound judgement, initiative and deep technical expertise to interpret business rules, manage competing priorities, and contribute to continuous improvement. The role includes technical leadership, stakeholder collaboration, and people management responsibilities, supporting high‑quality delivery in large‑scale and complex environments such as government services.

The Senior Test Analyst is responsible for planning, designing and executing complex testing activities to ensure ICT systems and services meet functional, non‑functional, quality and business requirements. This includes developing and reviewing test plans, test cases and test data; conducting system, acceptance, regression and usability testing; and identifying, managing and reporting defects, risks and test outcomes. The role provides expert guidance on testing methods, tools and automation, supports quality assurance activities and compliance with standards, and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives. Senior Test Engineers collaborate closely with business stakeholders, technical teams and external vendors, manage schedules and testing effort, and ensure timely delivery. They also lead and support a small team by setting priorities, managing resources, mentoring staff and aligning testing activities with organisational objectives and delivery outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Strong experience in system testing, acceptance testing and quality assurance in complex environments.
  • Proven ability to plan and lead testing activities across full delivery lifecycles.
  • Hands‑on experience with:
    • Test management and defect tracking tools (e.g. OpenText ALM)
    • API testing tools (e.g. REST API, Postman)
    • Test automation tools
    • Web and mobile device/browser testing
  • Solid understanding of SDLC methodologies (Agile and Waterfall).
  • Ability to analyse requirements, business rules and technical designs to ensure comprehensive test coverage.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Successful applicants will need to be eligible and willing to apply for an Australian Government Security Clearance
