Job Description

The Test Analyst is responsible for planning, designing, executing, and reporting on testing activities to ensure ICT systems and services meet defined requirements and quality standards. Working under the general direction of senior staff, the role exercises independent judgement within established frameworks and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives. The Test Analyst also provides guidance and mentoring to less experienced testers and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to support successful project delivery.

The Test Analyst is responsible for planning, developing, and executing testing activities across multiple stages of the testing lifecycle to ensure ICT systems and services meet defined requirements, quality standards, and business outcomes. The role involves creating and maintaining test plans, test cases, and test data; executing manual and automated tests; identifying, documenting, and managing defects; and analysing and reporting on test outcomes, risks, and issues. The Test Analyst collaborates closely with internal teams and external software vendors, contributes to process and tool improvements including test automation, allocates work based on complexity and capability, and provides guidance and training to less experienced testers. The role also supports compliance with organisational processes, legislation, and quality standards, while exercising independent judgement under general direction to support effective and timely project delivery.

Qualifications

  • Ability to select and apply appropriate testing approaches, including manual and automated testing
  • Experience developing and executing test plans and test cases
  • Implementation and maintenance of scalable and reliable automated test frameworks
  • Strong collaboration skills across product, system, and service design teams to ensure comprehensive test coverage
  • Capability to analyse, report, and communicate test outcomes, risks, and issues
  • Proven ability to identify process improvements to enhance testing efficiency and effectiveness
  • Experience working within Waterfall and Agile delivery methodologies
  • Familiarity with test automation tools and test management tools (e.g. OpenText ALM)
  • Exposure to SAP CRM and SAP S/4HANA environments
  • Prior experience within government or large-scale enterprise organisations is highly regarded
  • Successful applicants will need to be eligible and willing to apply for an Australian Government Security Clearance
