Job Description
NBCUniversal’s Ad Sales Creative Group, part of Rock Studios, is an industry-leading, award-winning team that develops groundbreaking creative campaigns and premium marketing experiences for the world’s most influential brands. We partner closely with advertisers to deliver custom, multi-platform solutions that leverage the power of NBCUniversal’s iconic content, talent, intellectual property and audiences across linear, streaming, digital, social and live experiences.
We are seeking a Senior Executive Producer to serve as one of the senior production leaders within Rock Studios. You will oversee a significant slate of advertising and marketing productions, partnering with creative, sales, clients and internal business teams to bring ambitious ideas from concept through final delivery.
As an ideal candidate, you will have deep production expertise with strategic leadership, strong creative instincts and exceptional business judgment. You'll need extensive experience producing integrated campaigns across a wide range of budgets, timelines and production models and be equally comfortable developing a production approach, negotiating a major production bid, finding smart solutions within limited resources, advising senior stakeholders, managing high-profile talent, leading a set, and solving problems when the unexpected happens.
This is both a hands-on Executive Producer and senior leadership role. You will directly oversee marquee projects while mentoring production teams, strengthening external partnerships and helping evolve how Rock Studios approaches production at scale.
This position reports directly to the Vice President, Production & Operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as Executive Producer across a diverse portfolio of advertising, branded content and integrated marketing initiatives—from lean, fast-turn assignments to complex marquee productions—overseeing work from early creative development and scoping through production, post-production and final delivery.
- Partner closely with creative teams to evaluate concepts for feasibility, identify the strongest production approach and translate ambitious ideas into exceptional, executable work while protecting the creative intent.
- Lead production across a broad range of formats, including custom branded content, digital and social campaigns, talent-led content, original branded entertainment series.
- Own the production strategy for assigned campaigns, including production methodology, schedules, budgets, staffing models, vendor strategy, risk assessment and contingency planning.
- Develop and manage production budgets and estimates across a wide range of scales; oversee competitive bidding, bid leveling, vendor negotiations, cost reporting, change management and final reconciliation while maximizing creative value within available resources.
- Lead director, production company and key vendor searches; identify and negotiate with the right creative and production partners for each assignment while maintaining a strong external network of directors, producers, crews, studios and post-production partners.
- Oversee all phases of production and post-production, including pre-production, casting, locations, talent, crew, technical planning, on-set execution, editorial, motion graphics, VFX, music, sound, color, finishing, versioning and final delivery.
- Partner closely with Legal, Finance, Music Services, Talent Relations and other internal teams to ensure productions meet NBCUniversal standards and business requirements.
- Maintain strong working knowledge of production contracts, rights and clearances, music licensing, releases, insurance, labor requirements and applicable union and guild considerations.
- Serve as a trusted senior production partner to internal stakeholders, clients and agencies, helping teams understand production implications, solve challenges and establish realistic scopes, budgets and timelines.
- Participate in the development and pitching of major opportunities when production strategy, feasibility, budgeting or executional expertise is required.
- Build trusted relationships across NBCUniversal and with clients, agencies and external partners, representing Rock Studios with credibility and authority in senior-level conversations.
- Oversee and mentor producers and freelance production teams, establishing clear expectations and helping develop the next generation of production leaders.
- Partner with the Vice President, Production & Operations on resource planning, production forecasting, staffing strategy, vendor strategy and allocation of production resources across the broader slate.
- Help evolve Rock Studios’ production organization by identifying opportunities to improve workflows, methodologies and infrastructure while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, creative ambition and responsible financial stewardship.
- Proactively assess creative, financial, logistical, legal and reputational risk and develop solutions before those risks affect the work.
Requirements
- Deep expertise in advertising and marketing production, with significant experience leading multi-platform campaigns across a range of scales and budgets—from lean, fast-turn productions to complex, high-budget work.
- Extensive experience working within an advertising agency, creative agency, production company, brand studio, entertainment marketing organization or comparable creative production environment.
- Ability to operate simultaneously as a strategic production leader and hands-on Executive Producer, leading multiple concurrent productions while maintaining command of creative, financial and logistical details.
- Exceptional understanding of physical production and post-production workflows across live action, editorial, VFX, motion design, music, audio and finishing.
- Strong command of production finance, including estimating, bidding, negotiating, cost management, forecasting and reconciliation, with the ability to maximize production value at varying budget levels.
- Extensive experience managing directors, production companies, freelance producers, crews and post-production partners.
- Strong knowledge of production business affairs, talent agreements, music and footage licensing, releases, rights and clearances, union and guild requirements and other production-related legal considerations.
- Proven experience producing with celebrity or high-profile talent and managing sensitive, high-stakes productions.
- Strong creative judgment with the ability to contribute meaningfully to creative conversations while understanding the distinction between creative leadership and production leadership.
- Exceptional business judgment, communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to balance creative ambition, client objectives, production realities and financial responsibility while working with senior executives, clients, creative leaders and external partners.
- Ability to lead through ambiguity, make decisions quickly and remain calm, pragmatic and solutions-oriented in high-pressure environments.
- Strong leadership and mentorship skills with experience developing producers and building high-performing production teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
- 12+ years of professional production experience, including substantial experience in advertising, branded content, marketing or agency production.
- Significant experience serving as an Executive Producer or equivalent senior production leader on integrated advertising and marketing campaigns.
- Proven track record of delivering complex productions on time, on budget and at a consistently high creative standard.
- Experience managing production budgets of varying scale and complexity and negotiating with production companies, vendors and creative partners.
- Willingness to travel and work outside traditional business hours when productions require it.
Desired Characteristics
- Experience within a leading advertising agency, creative agency, entertainment company, network, streamer or sophisticated in-house brand studio.
- Experience with both traditional advertising production and emerging formats across streaming, digital, social, experiential and creator-led content.
- A deep and current network of directors, production companies, producers, crews and post-production partners.
- A reputation for being an excellent partner to creative teams -- someone who finds ways to make ambitious ideas happen rather than simply identifying limitations.
- Strong executive presence paired with a low-ego, collaborative leadership style.
- Entrepreneurial mindset and comfort working in an environment where the work, technology and production models continue to evolve.
- Passion for outstanding creative work and a track record of building the teams and production environments required to achieve it.
