The Senior Manager of Accounting will serve as a key member of the Controllership organization within the Media Group. The Media Group includes the best brands in the industry, including the NBC broadcast network, Peacock, and Bravo. This role provides an outstanding opportunity to learn about the television entertainment and streaming businesses and be a change agent. It will report to the VP, Controller, DTC & Entertainment, and will work closely with finance leadership across the group.

This role will standardize existing processes, identify efficiencies, and implement best practices. This position will need to work as a member of a cohesive team to meet tight deadlines and respond quickly to changes in the business environment.

Operational:

  • Oversee key aspects of the monthly and quarterly close processes, including the review of journal entries and account reconciliations, and the preparation of balance sheet reviews, ensuring adherence to company policies.
  • Timely review and submission of data requests to Corporate Controllership to support internal and external reporting. Provides ideas for improvement in overall collection and reporting of data.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations for the General Ledger, including SAP maintenance and support for finance and management of the account reconciliation tool.
  • Participate in corporate-driven initiatives and process change. In the next year, this will include significant emphasis on NBCU’s transition to the SAP S/4 platform.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for internal and external auditors and provide requested support as necessary.
  • Ensure SOX documentation is up to date and reflects current processes.
  • Coordinate various ad-hoc reporting requests, account analysis, and other duties as needed to support business leader requests.

Process Improvement:

  • Drive standardization of existing processes while ensuring appropriate internal controls are in place to support fair presentation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of key corporate subsystems and their interface with the general ledger.
  • Identify areas for improvement by leveraging technology and eliminating redundancies.

People:

  • Manage, coach, and develop a Senior Accountant, including oversight of work product, prioritization, deadlines, and professional development.
  • Develop and maintain positive and productive working relationships with business finance and controllership teams.
  • Proactively share ideas, contribute to high-quality results, and remain engaged in process improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

Here You'll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • Knowledge of U.S. GAAP  
  • 7+ years of accounting experience; 2+ years of public accounting experience strongly preferred.
  • CPA license strongly preferred.
  • Entertainment industry experience preferred.
  • Experience with large ERP systems (such as SAP) preferred.
  • Advanced Excel skills

Hybrid: This position currently has a hybrid schedule, which requires contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week. The Company reserves the right to change in-office requirements at any time.
